| "The Silent Clown" This name comes from Trowa's renowned stoicism, and his undercover job as a daring clown at a circus. Trowa is an excellent and efficient pilot, and never acts on his own behalf. He also has a distinct sadness in him. |
| Relationships: Trowa has no romantic match in the show, except the girl Midii Une, whom he meets and is betrayed by in the Episode Zero manga. His adopted sister, Catherine, is a knife-thrower at the circus, and nurtures and cares for him like no one else ever has. In Episode Zero, Catherine is revealed to be his true sister, although neither knows it. Trowa's closest friend among the Gundam pilots, and sometimes Yaoi partner, is Quatre, and he also has a close relationship with Heero, whom he cares for after the battle at the New Edwards base. |
| Background: Trowa was only a baby when his family of travelling circus performers was killed by the Alliance in the Episode Zero manga. Catherine, his sister, escaped and stayed with the circus which Trowa again joins years later, undercover. Because he had no name, he was called Nanashi, or "no-name". He was raised by a group of renegade soldiers, who were all killed in battle. Later in life, Nanashi is a mechanic working on the Gundam 03, and witnesses the murder of the Gundam's original pilot, Trowa Barton, by Doktor S, the Gundam's engineer. He offers to take Trowa's name and pilot the Gundam in Operation Meteor. |
