| Hybrid Perpetual and Burbon roses are: Not for the beginning rose grower Research is needed to determine indivual hardiness Disease resistance varies, but generally they need to be treated for Powdery mildew & Black spot They have a variety of flower shapes, most often it is the classic cupped form Hybrid perpetual's and burbons are highly fragrant and repeat bloom through out the season Many specimens in these two classes have a lax growing habit. The canes grow long and arch under the weight of the blooms, often encroaching on neighboring plants They prefer to be grown in a row, verses a bed situation They require adequate ventilation because of their low tolerance for disease Why do I have them? The form is not to be equaled among the repeat blooming classes The fragrance can knock one off their feet They are among the first to bloom in the spring and offer up an unrivaled show For these reasons they are more than worth the extra attention they can require |
