| The sound of voices brings you slowly awake. You keep your eyes closed, still tired from your nap. A high pitched voice speaks. "Is it dead?" A slightly more masiculan voice speaks next. "It looks pretty dead to me." A human girl's voice speaks next. "It's not dead, it is just sleeping." You blink slowly, trying to wake up fully. You see four different creatures before you. A girl, two larger-than-normal butterfly like creatures. And beside the girl stands a beautiful dragon. The girl has long green hair that flutters behind her in the soft spring breeze. Her eyes are a dark emerald green that matches her long dress, which is sinched at the waist with a tan belt. The female butterfly creature has shimmery white eridescent scales. Her wings start dark blue near the top, and fade to green where they attach to the body. The male has black scales flecked with white. His wings start red at the tips, fade to orange, then yellow, the back to orange and then red where they touch the body. The dragon is very beautiful. Her body is a darkish green the color of helthy grass. Her belly scales, mane, and wings are orange and yellow. She also has orange and green spots on her body. When you open your eyes, the two butterfly creatures flutter back in suprise. "Ack! Its awake!" The blue one shirlls. You rise slowly to your feet, still grogy from your sleep. Once one your feet, you appoligize for having fallen asleep under the oak. You say you mean no harm, and did not mean to cause them alarm. The girl smiles. "We understand, and we accept your appoligy. My name is May." You gasp, recongnition dawning on you. You quickly explain about your dream, and how you had heard the voices of May, and another nameless girl. "That is very weird. What did your dream say?" You repeat as much of it as you can remember, and May's eyes widen. "Why, that is a conversation that Deborah, the dragon's bondmate, and I had just a few weeks ago. How very strange. Maybe it is because of all of the spells around here." You froun, and ask what spells. "Well, my power lies with the season of spring, and that is why Deborah chose me for the dragon's caretaker. Before the dragon was adopted, we worked together and placed large spells over this meadow to keep in always in spring. That is what most of the spells here do. The spells keep the flowers and grass growing all year round." You nod understanding now. The dragon steps forward and nods to you. "My name is Hazumi, which means spring in Japanese. I am a spring earth dragon." You smiles, and comment on her beauty. She smiles. "Thank you." The little blue winged creature takes the pause in conversation to float a few feet forward twords you. "Hello. My name is Yueh." You try to repeat it, but find the alien words strange in your mouth. The creature laughs merrily. "No no. Yu-eh." She says very slowly, and you repeat, getting it right this time. Yueh nod and giggles, and then does a little summer-salt in the air. "Thats better. Did you come here to see the dragon?" You tell her that you have come to see the dragon, and she nods knowingly. The male red flys up to hover next to Yueh. "I'm Noru. What is your name?" You give it and Yueh breaks out laughing. "Oh dear!" She gasps between laughs. "What a silly name! Do all humans have such strange names?" Noru hushes her and turns back to you. "I'm sorry." You wave your hand, indicating no hard feelings, and he continues. "We are whats called Fairy Dragonflies, of the vein-winged variety! We come from the land of Skyhaven. I am a black scaled fire, and Yueh is a white scaled blue-green." You smile understanding now. Yueh flitters up. "Would you like to see the rest of Hazumi's home?" Hazumi smiles. "We would be glad to show you." You agree, and Yueh takes off fluttering, to show you the dragons home. "This tree here is the oak tree. It gives us shelter from the occasonal light spring showers." You ask what the sparkles are in the branches. "Oh! Those are gems we placed there. They are very pretty to look at when lying under the tree's branches. " "That is where I sleep, under the tree, and the sparkles amuse me." After showing you around, you return to May amd Noru. You smile at them, and thank them for their hospitality, but say you must return. Just before you leave, Hazumi look to you, a little smile on her face. She seems to be asking you to return. You silently promise the dragon to do so... |
