| The Abandoned Castle |
| You follow Sara and Kemberance at a short distance down the path that leads to the Abandoned Castle. The thick trees black your sight from all but the path. "It isn't that long of a walk to the castle. We should be there in about ten minuets." Kemberance says, looking back at you over her sholder. You nod, and continue your walk. The forest is quiet. The small noises about you whisper across your ears and are gone. After ten minuets or so, as the dragon promised, you reach the castle. The path and forest give way to a very large clearing. The clearing is covered in soft grass and the occaisonal golden flower. The castle itself is amazing. It sits atop a small hill. The castle rises about three stories high. After the floors, three towers soar into the air. The whole thing is partly covered in ramptly growing vines and ivy. One side of the gold inlayed dubble dorrs is hanging on broken hinges. The windows are of all sizes and shapes, placed seemingly at random. "Now," Sara says, turning to you. "Are you ready to climb to the towers? I shall tell you what little we know about the castle as we go. Kem is too big to follow us into the castle now, so she will meet us on the roof." You nod, and follow Sara through the broken door. The first floor is open and airy. What little furniture there is is covered in dust. What you can see is that everything is inlayed with gold. Sara notices your gaze and giggles. "Yes, it seems that the last owner did enjoy gold." Another giggle. "It really isn't a castle at all, but more of a manor house." You agree that it is quite small for a castle. "Well, lets go to the second floor." The two of you climb a set of gold inlayed stairs to reach the second floor. This floor is nothing but a hallway with dozens of door on either side and a stair case, gold inlayed, of course. "This room was the housing for guests and family." Up another flight of stairs. This floor, the third, is strange. It is mostly empty, except for a few cots scattered on the floor. Three stair cases travel upward to the roof. The windows are small and no more than arrow slits. Nothing in here is gold inlayed. "Defense. Thats what this room was for." Sara says, gazing impasivly at the sight. "Well, come, nothing to see here. Lets go up to the towers. Take that stair case over there." Fae points to one of the three. "That one will lead you to the tallest tower." When you reach the top Kemberance is there waiting for you. You gasp at the sight laid out before you. You can see for what seems to be forever. The wind blows strongly, and you have to lean against it to keep your balence. After a few minuets, Sara speaks. "This tower, the tallest one, is where Kem practiced flying when she was younger.." You smile at the young elf, and then follow her back into the castle. |
