| Well, here's the first installment in the Car Talk series (yeah, I know it needs a better name.) I'm Zygomorphia (duh), and my friend Brad is CarFreak. Don't ask, it's the tag he wanted. Neither of these are our real IM names, in case you're wondering. Anyway, hae fun, enjoy the...uh...debate! CarFreak: my top 10 is better than your top 10 Zygomorphia: Mine covers more than one genre of car... Zygomorphia: (hehehe, DISS) CarFreak: pshh CarFreak: your other genre of cars SUCKS!!!! CarFreak: i have supercars and i have an awd kick arse SUV Zygomorphia: the Land Rover? It's a tad boxy, and rather overpriced. CarFreak: although mine also covers more than 1 genre of car as well, i have classic hot rod, the can't get enough of it supercar, as WELL as an SUV, which i might add ALSO kicks arse Zygomorphia: I'll give you the genre, but how 'bout price range? Mine ranges from less than 16 grand to about 800 grand. CarFreak: did i not mention it's quote unquote "distinctive" shape, which i rather like, and it may be a tad overpriced (maybe) but in a moneys no object top 10 list, i think it holds its own Zygomorphia: I definitely included money as an object, that's part of the reason why the M3 is ahead of the F1. CarFreak: he he he, i have quite a few honorable mention cars that would kick the price range outta here (also, would you add the Isedera I 112 to my honorable mentions??) CarFreak: yea, i however, did now Zygomorphia: hey, y'know what other car I like? Ford Focus. CarFreak: i even have a few handbuilt german exotics in my honerable mention CarFreak: AAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! CarFreak: SHOOT!!! CarFreak: ME!!! CarFreak: NOW!!!!! Zygomorphia: I thought that would inspire some good-natured discussion. Zygomorphia: The headlights are neat. CarFreak: aahhhhhhh, discussion yes, good natured i heartily DISagree Zygomorphia: Voice thy complaints. CarFreak: it has to many jagged edges, not in a good way either, not like the old 60's and 70's caddy's CarFreak: it's whole basic image sucks Zygomorphia: jagged? I think not! CarFreak: granted, for an econo car, it's, well, an econo car Zygomorphia: It's better than the new Civic, I think. CarFreak: but it's trying to make a statement in the under 15,000 range, which doesn't work to well, specially in the look it has CarFreak: i rather like the civic CarFreak: with all it's aftermarket hop up's and custom ground effects Zygomorphia: I like the two door version of the Civic, but the four door is a little 'typical sedan' CarFreak: u can hop up a civic and make it look half-way decent (for an econo car) however if u do the same to a focus, eewwwwww CarFreak: i have seen one ford focus that i liked, and that was profesionaly built (it cost far upwards of 15,000 i assume) and had nearly custom everything CarFreak: it was in a mag i read recently Zygomorphia: Add tinted windows, big spoiler, enlarged tailpipe on ANY car and you look like you're trying too hard to be cool, like the guy revving his engine to impress the girl at the corner, hahahaha. CarFreak: well, granted you make a good point, but if the guy revving his engine is revving a 67 jag type 2 V-12, then he sure as hell WILL impress the chick on the corner CarFreak: and me for that matter Zygomorphia: Well, yeah. CarFreak: granted pretty much any car in good condition from the 60's 70's will impress me, but still CarFreak: that era had some SWEET cars CarFreak: hemicuda CarFreak: camero CarFreak: trans-am CarFreak: firebird CarFreak: mustang CarFreak: shelby cobra Zygomorphia: I need to look into classics more. CarFreak: he he he, those big arse caddy's with the rear stabalizers CarFreak: and u won't get ANY personal style or respect pimpin it in the summer in a focus Zygomorphia: You don't know the meaning of the word practical, do ya. ^-^ CarFreak: c'mon now, 2 guys pull up to a stop light, one in a 2001 ford focus, the other in a mint condition '67 mustang, red with twin white racing stripes down the side, with a growling big block V-8 CarFreak: nope CarFreak: i mean, i instantely respect the guy in the mustang, never having met him CarFreak: even if the guy in the focus has a kickin system, it doesn't make a diff CarFreak: and if the guys in a shelby cobra CarFreak: he has my undying respect for life CarFreak: now THAT is a phat car Zygomorphia: Then summer turns to fall to winter, and our buddy mr Mustang gets two feet of snow dumped on his car, which causes the cloth top to fall through, and darn, can't use it in the winter, can you? CarFreak: hardtop CarFreak: and hell, u could buy an inexpensive winter car, 1992 maxima or somethin, not makin a statement, but not being a cop out and buyin a new focus CarFreak: not just being another person in the crowd CarFreak: i had found my practical dream car, a hard top '72 bright white dodge charger CarFreak: cept it was $10,000 Zygomorphia: I happen to think the Focus has a distinctive shape that separates it from the crowd. CarFreak: it then became impractical. because the guy had it overpriced Zygomorphia: My practical car for hard winters is a Hummer. Also, a front-end loader to clean out ye olde driveway and sidewalks, ahahahahaa CarFreak: i would agree, but it's one of those bodies that tries to hard, it doesn't chill, and let the public decide for it, it tries to hard, same with the pt cruiser CarFreak: nice design, but well, it has no curves, and it tries to hard (also, i don't like the slanting roof) CarFreak: and it has the chassis and engine of a neon CarFreak: which is the ultimate diss CarFreak: (except for maybe a tercel, or anything qualifying in the spec category Zygomorphia: It is a concept-style car that actually reached production, unlike most, and although I do fundamentally disagree with the chassis for safety reasons, the engine is a conession I am willing to make to see a car with such an inventive design on the road and available to Joe Average CarFreak: n-aahhhhhhh, chrysler uses a lot of it's concept cars to bring closely to reality Zygomorphia: Have you seen the new Crossfire? CarFreak: what i would REALLY like to see is the chrysler crossfire reach production Zygomorphia: lol! CarFreak: that is a yes CarFreak: i think we can reach an agreement on that car Zygomorphia: And the Buick Bengal? I love that car! It seriously reminds you of a tiger if you look at it with peripheral vision, and the dash is ONE BIG SPEAKER! CarFreak: he he hem yea CarFreak: the carrera GT, thats the porsche supercar i was talkin about CarFreak: i couldn't thin of the name CarFreak: damn, honda s2000 and toyota mr 2 spyder CarFreak: 2 more i forgot CarFreak: but practical, in a way Zygomorphia: S2000, push button start, right? CarFreak: and better than a miata (yup, push button) although miata's arn't bad Zygomorphia: What do you think of Caddy's new concepts, with all the edges? CarFreak: i admire more companies getting into the lower cost performance cars CarFreak: nope, no good CarFreak: i like the general idea of radical concepts, but it reminds me of the pontiac aztek CarFreak: it doesn't have the right straightness CarFreak: like the 60's cars had no curves, but they had such a cool look Zygomorphia: It's different though, and it's nice to have new ideas out there. However, I don't know if I would buy a car that's quite that geometric CarFreak: that is too high up, it's straightness goes up, rather than back, vertical rather than horizontal CarFreak: yea, i agree with ya CarFreak: maybe if it were more horizantal it would look better Zygomorphia: The Aztek? yeah, maybe. I like the hammocky thing in the back though. CarFreak: yea, i like the idea of the built in tent, and hammocky thingy Zygomorphia: Have you seen the Jeep tent, that latches on the back? That's neat. CarFreak: but it's design is also to high up, reminds me of a bloated min-van CarFreak: yea, i like that idea CarFreak: the x-terra i like CarFreak: not bad performance, stuff for what u need CarFreak: maybe a little pretentious driving one all the time, but i like it Zygomorphia: I like a lot of the small sport-utes...Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Liberty, Ford Escape, Toyota RAV4 (good improvements for this year) and Honda CR-V CarFreak: it doesn't have that shape that says HEY, LOOK AT ME, I'M DIFFERENT, BUT IT DOES IT IN A LITTLE VOICE, THAT MAKES U TAKE NOTICE CarFreak: i donno, the liberty needs some new headlights to be cool CarFreak: maybe if they gave it 4 round headlights in front Zygomorphia: Hexagonal headlights! CarFreak: like a mercedes or something CarFreak: yup CarFreak: i forgot a car CarFreak: Morgan Aero 8 Zygomorphia: o-righty. CarFreak: tack that into my list, give it the "most inginuitive design" CarFreak: it has the shape thats refined, but it says look at me, in a voice thats nice and low, but not annoying CarFreak: look it up sometime, it's a great car Zygomorphia: I'll check it out CarFreak: that you will have to CarFreak: i totally forgot about it CarFreak: it has the same concept as the PT Zygomorphia: hehe, I need to add honorable mentions CarFreak: but much better finished product (and performance) CarFreak: yup Zygomorphia: blah, we shall continue the PT Cruiser War sometime |
