From going to Chris's dorm, I met Beth who lived next door. We became instant friends. She let me come over and use the computer when I didn't feel like walking all the way to the lab.
Around the same time, Anders was in his last year of school. And, being the hard-working guy that he is, was working long hours for a company called Logicon in Denmark.
One night in November while at Beth's on the IRC, I was talking to my friend Drew (ok, so I could have walked down the road to talk, but still).
He had started up a new channel and wanted me to join and spread the word. So I did.
At the same time, Anders was pulling an all nighter at work. What dedication! .. well .. actually, he had no choice in the matter. The main computer at Logicon caught fire. He had to stay there to get all the computers up and running again.
I wasn't in the channel for 5 minutes when I got "Banan ([email protected]) has joined #roots" on my screen. We greeted each other and began to chat ..
.. And that, as they say, is that.

This was the first glimpse that I ever got of Anders back in November of 1996.

There are so many things that can be said about friendship. There are so many languages, so many words, and yet .. there's no way to exactly say just how much you mean to me. You've been there for me in good times and bad. You've seen me through some of the hardest times. And no matter what .. you're always still there for me. You've made me *laugh* ... you've made me *smile* .. you've 'wiped away' the tears.
AGAIN ... Anders & I met up in July 2001. Actually, he & Ss picked me up at the airport in lborg on the morning/afternoon of my 25th birthday. Although no one got me with the cinnamon (HA HA HA Randi!!!) I still enjoyed it (well .. except for the train and the 2 planes ... it's not fun to do when you're drunk off your ass!!! ... See my page about my Urbino trip for further details). We spent time camping up in Lkken (see Mike's bumperstickers for that one ROFLMAO!). A pretty wicked storm came thru when we were in town. Well, needless to say that when we got back to the site, the tent that I shared with Lars and Lone was about 6cms or so underwater! It was a soggy night! Then next morning we packed up all the gear and took our time traveling back to Kbenhavn. Once we arrived back at the apartment, we hung out most of our stuff to dry and took the rest to the laundry mat to dry them. Then it was off to the Mouse & Elephant ... and YES! There really IS an elephant head on the wall that pours beer out the snout! Then we went to El Inca. Then I got a SUNRISE tour of Kbenhavn. Afterwards we went to the 7-11 and got the makings for breakfast and then went to wake-up Carsten & Christina (Oops!). We hopped a cab back to the apartment where Ss passedout cold and Anders took me to the airport to head back to Italy. DAMN I MISS BEING THERE!!!
