Grisly Fight With Bane

Grisly paused looking from one door to the next. Which one had the others gone down? “That one.” The big man turned to look at his small green companion. Goblin had obviously seen his hesitation on picking a direction. Grisly sprinted down the corridor ignoring Goblins’ cries for him to wait up. He turned the next corner and found himself in darkness to thick to be natural. It could only be the false darkness his feline teammate created. He could smell blood and the stench of burnt flesh.

“Kat the lights!” He called out loudly, so anxious to see what was going on that he didn’t stop to think that there might be a reason for the darkness.

“That was my ear, Gris.” The big man blinked a couple of times as the darkness lifted. He was standing behind Solar Flare.

“Sorry.” He muttered while trying to catch his bearings. Their enemy, Bane was kneeling in a pool of blood and holding his face in his hands. Kat was standing between Gris and Bane, a bit closer to Bane. Gris thought about checking on her injuries, then he noticed thier leader, Mike lying on the floor in front of Bane. He rushed over to see to his fallen commander just as Flare moved to catch Kat as the feline collapsed.

“Looks like we needed Pixie for this battle.” Solar said a bit jovially about their healing teammate.

“Why must you jest?” Grisly demanded of her giving her a stern look. Their commander had fallen in battle with the enemy, and she had the nerve to joke about the whole thing.

“Sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying.” Solar replied and he saw something in her that he had yet to have seen during the short time he has been with the team. She was serious. “Goblin, get some restraints on Bane.” Gris turned at Solar’s command to see their smaller teammate come running in. Goblin was out of breath, as the run took more out of his short legs then it did Grisly’s longer ones. Goblin looked at Bane in horror and it was then that Gris realized that the smell of burnt flesh was coming from Bane. Flare had burnt the man’s face with one of her solar flashes.
