One the Arowana fry has grown to the exprot size (15cm-6 inches). The breeder will request the PPD offiecer to his farm to tag the young fishes. Tagging must be done for each batch (the total number of fry harvested from any single brooding male). Every tagging usually done follow the procedures: -An anesthesia tank: tank that contains the tranquilser use to enough amout to put the fish to sleep for about 1-2 minuties. each time one or two fish will be put in there . when the fishes star to lose its consciousness and become motionless, and turm upsied down(belly up). At this stages, the fish is ready for tagging. -The fish then, taken out of the tank and placed on a clean, wet towels. with a frim hand hold the fish, the PPD offices quicly inplandt the cirochip into the flesh near the letl side of th ddorsal fis with the help of and injector.After tagging, the fish will be placed in the recobery tank -Recover tank: is a tank that has strong aeration. that will hepl the fish has enout oxigen to recover quickly. normally the fish will regain its consciousness within 3-5 minutes.( the longer fish is placed under aneshesiam the longer it tanke to regain it consiousness). Only two fishes are tagged and place under anesthesia at one time. The cycle repeat itself till the whole batch is completed. |
