here and now

liquid-glass orbs, minute and many,
lazily slid across the green strand of landscape;
the only solid surface they'd ever know.
for they were to meet their doom
in one of two ways:
crashing unforgivingly to the depths below
or suffering the torturous demise
of dehydration and evaporation.
still, none of this occured to me
as i took in their breath-taking beauty
and thought only of the then here and now.
