The Vast Land, also sometimes referred to as just "The Plains" is a large stretch of land located on northern Amduray. The Vast Lands has no true government, and is settled by tribes of nomads. The nomadic tribes exist off of the natural bounty of the land - hunting the many animals that wander the plains and foraging for what food they can. Generally peaceful to each other, a great conflict has started with the Vargauches (mainly Flemareza'kets) who have settled the area. The Vargauches view the original nomads as enemies, and fighting has escalted over the past thirty years.
Most nomads are descended from elves, able to trace at least one elven ancestor in their past. As such, they share similiar traits; slated ears, green almond-shaped eyes, and light yet athletic builds. Those children who show strong elven features are believed to have a great future, and often become leaders or skilled warriors. In addition to the humans, Vargauches have settled the Vast Land in great numbers, drawn to the freedom to govern themselves.
The Vast Land is recognized as a seperate country only by Tark'Nek and Talavirr. Despite this, the Vast Land has rocky political relations with each country. Lovothians often raid the Plains for slaves and supplies, Tark'Nek sends diplomatic parties to attempt to subsume the tribes, and Claisant merchants attempt to make trades with nomads heavily in Claisant's favor. Talavirr can be said to be the Vast Land's only true ally, as they both have a similiar relationship with Lovoth.
The Vast Lands has no true military, just as they have no true government. In times of crises, the tribes will often unite under the most capable leader. Even seperate, the tribes are not completely defenseless. The Vast Lands have a strong tradition of horsemanship and archery, and are fearsome warriors in the wide expanses of their home. This tradition of mounted archery has earned the citizens of the Vast Land the nickname of "Plains Riders."
Lareth is the most popular and powerful leader in the Plains. Adopted daughter of a powerful warrior chief (who has since passed away) Lareth was captured and experimented on by dragons at a young age. The dragons abandoned her, and her adopted father found her, still a child, alone in the plains. Lareth possess a knack for leadership, an empathy with all creatures, and amazing innate magical power. Reaching the end of her life, Lareth has begun talks of uniting all peaceful tribes of the Plains under one banner.
Kerra, daughter of Aura, leads the largest tribe of peaceful Vargauches with her father. Since her mother went missing 20 years ago, Kerra has stepped up to fill the leadership gap. Kerra's typical response in many situations is to not become involved unless attacked, and then retaliate at full strength. Close allies with Lareth, the older human often serves as a mentor and advisor.
Grathor the Fierce is a Flemareza'ket who has started his own tribe and city, and has attracted a large number of followers. Unlike Kerra, Grathor is far more violent, attacking any nearby tribes and considering everyone an enemy. Grathor believes in the survival of the fittest, and enslaves or kills anyone who he doesn't consider worthy regardless of their race. Grathor's tribe is believed to be the largest in all the Vast Land, and it is a growing worry that he would be able to defeat Lovoth or Tark'Nek is drawn into a direct way.
