Amduray, the western continent of Drakonas, has always been one of the most civilized lands, yet at the same time the most war-torn one. Each country in Amduray feels that their culture and ideologies are greater, and have warred over it for thousands of years. In the year 3823 LS, that all changed. The dragons, formially believed to be powerful but unorganized, became a massive threat.
The draconic attack started small. Villages on the edge of the borders began to dissappear. But then the Vargauches came. Four new races, created by dragons. Infused with the power of both nature and the elements, the Vargauches were killing monsters... but mindless ones. It took a human by the name of Corbesont to grant them intellect. Joining with the dragons for his own mysterious reasons, Corbesont aided in the Vargauches' birth, creating the intelligent race better known today. The Vargauches were perfect in every way -- except that they were unwilling. With intelligence came a soul, and free will. The Vargauches were forced to serve their draconic masters, but desired freedom.
This was not Corbeson't first attack. Earlier, he had fought to destroy Tark'Nek several times, often attacking Tark with undead minions, earth-shattering spells, or legions of demons. For his last attack, while the Vargauch and dragon threat was present, he attempted to corrupt Tark'Nek. Taking the place of a highly respected clergyman, Corbesont was able to infiltrate Tark'Nek's government and use his position to sway others towards his goals. For his final act, he captured a Lovothian half-demon noble child named Jadale, turning her into a dark queen of the damned. Together, the two threatened to rip apart the mountain the city of Tark stood on, leaving the massive city in ruins.
When evil rises, as does good. Two heroes of note rose up to the occasion. Aura, a Flemareza'ket sorceress, one of the first Vargauces accidentally freed by the dragons, and Raak, a human monk hailing from Tark. The two together defeated Corbesont, and killed the demon-witch Jadale, and free countless Vargauches from the dragons, enough to allow the artificial races to create their own societies. But the battle had just begun.
Fifteen years later, in 3838 LS, it again became time for heroes to heed the call. Sardoc Plaise, a power-mad paladin, along with Patriach Wividum, then leader of Tark'Nek, sought to kill all of the Vargauches. Never one to pass up a fight, Aura again took to the call, with her twin children, Kiarr and Kerra at her sides. The three clashed with Sardoc and his elite forces high upon the mountains of Tark, while down below, Wividum's madness was revealed to all. Wividum fleed, and noone knows what happened to Sardoc - of the battle in the cliffs, only Kerra returned, and she remained silent except to say that the threat was over.
But it wasn't. Twenty years later the shadows of the past threaten to rise up and consume the world...
More details can be found under each country's portion of the site. This is simply a short summary.
Claisant: A country primary concearned with economics, Claisant has a neutral outlook on wars. When called to battle, the Claisant armada is the strongest on Amduray, and their calvary is matched by few. Claisant is ruled by a herditary monarchy, who has served the country well for hundreds of years.
Tark'Nek: The most religious of the countries, Tark'Nek is a theocracy that suffered greatly during the past forty years. Most of their ranks of paladins were descimated, many high priests killed, and the Patriach was revealed to be corrupted by darkness. Now, with things seeming settled, Tark'Nek attempts to reclaim its image as the city on the hill.
Lovoth: Located in the center of Amduray, Lovothian soldiers have been in more battles than any two other countries combined. Lovoth relies on a physical workforce compromised mostly of undead to mine its vast mineral and gem depoists, till its harsh desolate soil, and otherwise provide the country to thrive. Lovoth is also known for it's bleak landscape, cruel people, and thriving undead population.
The Vast Land: Also know simply as "the plains", the Vast Lands are not a true 'country' in their own right. Instead, it's a large area of land inhabited by wandering nomads. Nearly every human in the Vast Lands has some traces of elven blood. The Vast Lands have become dangerous, as many Vargauches have formed their own soceities hostile to humans there.
Talavirr: Talavirr is a highly lawful country rulled by an emperor, who names another emperor in his will. This emperor is often, but not always, a descendant or relative. Talavirrian warriors are known for their loyalty, fierceness in battle, and honor. Still, Talavirr is also well known for its network of assassins and spies employed by nobles or criminal organizations. Talavirr natives usually have traces of elven blood and features.
Horongin: All lands not claimed by humans are part of Horongin. Hobgoblins call this location their home, and fiercely defend it from all outside forces, and even travelers. The hobgoblins only make except for Lovothians, who they willingly trade with. Horongin relies mainly on northern plantations for its food, which is then shipped out to hobgoblin warriors throughout the country. Horongin hobgoblins often raid Talavirr and the Crescent Isle for fresh supplies, and to hone combat skills.
>Crescent Isle: Located west of Amduray, the Crescent Isle is a moon-shaped island filled with a lush jungle forest. Inside the deep woodland, many savage elves call the place home. The Crescent Isle is largely self-reliant, being too distant from the rest of Amduray. The only travelers are often raiding groups of hobgoblins.
