Lovoth

Lovoth sits in central Amduray, the only country with borders to all others. Lovoth's land is mainly marshy, due to the many rivers the deposit and collect in its soil. Lovoth's government is composed of noble families divded into houses, who each control a different area of the country. Each house has rule over a group of citizens, with the number under the house's jursidiction varying depending on the size of the house. Unlike most other countries, Lovothians take advantage of slaves and undead to do their work. As such, life in Lovoth is easy for the average citizen, with most performing thinking jobs and menial tasks being left up to undead workers.

Vargauches have had a difficult time in Lovoth. While many houses have accepted the Vargauches as capable allies, others have attempted to eradicate what they view as a threat, or taken advantage of them. The country has no single opinion or attitude towards the Vargauches, although many of the top houses are pushing for accepting them as potential allies.

Lovoth has poor relations with most other countries with the exception of Horongin. Lovoth gains most of its food from Horongin in exchange for Lovothian weapons. In addition, the two countries have a booming slave trade. Claisant participates in open trade with Lovoth, while Tark'Nek often participates in open war. Talavirr and the Plains are the victims of Lovoth's frequent attacks and raids, where Lovothians capture goods and slaves.

Each Lovothian house is in charge of its own military, with any large-scale armies being a rarity in Lovoth. When trouble threatens the country as a whole, several houses band togehter, often under the leadership of one of the three rules of Lovoth.

Lovoth is ruled by "The Circle of Three", made up of three members who meet at Spire. In the past, The Circle was made of a member of each of the three strongest houses, each with skills and knowledges that complimented each other. As of now, however, the council is made up of two members of Lovothian houses and The Mistress, who's origin is unknown.

Important Locations

Spire is Lovoth's capitol city. An urbal spawl in the center of Lovoth, the city extends out from it's center point - the Spire that gives the city its name. In the Spire itself, House alliances are made, and all work about Lovoth's joint government is done.

Heads of Government

Drake Delvaru leads the most powerful house in Lovoth and is part of The Spire. The fact that House Delvaru has the largest military of any house, and Drake's military experience made him a natural fit for the council. Drake, being over 90 years old and in good health, is rumored to have become undead or have extended his lifespan with fel magics. If it wasn't for that, the fact that

Malgram Tarlach is the second member of The Council, and leader of House Tarlach. A powerful lich, Malgram is over 300 years old. He's had plenty of oppertunity to perfect his magical might, and serves as a leader in all things arcane for the country. Malgram's personal goals revolve around accumulating more magical knowledge, and he's been known to pay large amounts of gold to anyone able to deliver accurate information on new discoveries.

The Mistress is the mysterious third member of The Council. Besides the other Council members and possibly the leaders of the Shadow Blades, noone knows who she truely is or where she comes from. Joining the council thirty four years ago, when the previous member passed away due to old age, The Mistress was accepted by the other two members and quickly took charge. Paying allegiance to no house and with undiscernable goals, The Mistress has organized the Shadow Blades to fulfill her desires.

Organizations and People

Spire Knights are Lovoth's elite fighting force, comparable in some way to Tark'Nek's paladins. The Spire Knights are the country's best trained guards, composed of highly skilled combatants of all walks of life. While the Spire Knights wish to serve thier house's best interest they abandon personal goals for the good of the country when working in an official manner. Spire knights gain their name from being primarily based off of Spire, with the primary garrison there.

Shadow Blades are an elite force of spies and assassins organized by The Mistress. Specializing in Necromancy, especially death spells that effect dreams and nightmares, the Shadow Blades have been a great boom to Lovoth. Imparted with great secrets from The Mistress, the Shadow Blades are feared by all enemies of Lovoth.

House Narteh is a rogue house within Lovoth. Despite still being part of the country, House Narteh is viewed with much suspicioun. The house that Jadale the Witch Queen was originally part of, House Narteh has changed since her defeat, becoming more reclusive. Even though the house had nothing to do with her revival (Corbesont's doing) nor was she part of the house's bloodline (she was adopted), and in fact was one of the few Lovothian houses to fight against her, due to the fact that her body was never recovered rumor is still about that Jadale lives somewhere deep within the house... possibly plotting her revenge on the world. House Narteh's head is the noble Gareth Narteh, the last of the Narteh bloodline and still unmarried.
