Welcome to Earth... Welcome home The Earth has taken on some dark qualities in the time you were away. After 557 years, she has become a desolate landscape, scarred by the ignorance of her children more that four hundred years ago. Humanity has been struggling to survive the hardships that its ancestors have put it through, and though there are many divisions amongst the people of the world, it appears that nations are uniting, and that the Earth may once more find peace. Such is not to be. In an early, desperate attempt to continue life, a colonization effort was sent to Mars. This was over three hundred and fifty hundred years ago. Now that Earth has begun to recover, the still settling Martians demand independance... at any cost. Although there are only a fraction of humans left on Earth, they still outflank the Martians, and are willing to keep the planet tied to them, no matter what the growing colony thinks. Concerns of another war sit at the forefront of everyone's mind, and this time around, war could be fatal. Enter the United Nations of International Security, the strongest power of the world: a vast military machine built for the protection and defense of Earth's people. It has been responsible for holding countries together as early as the fall of the North American Super Power, and has kept a strong grip on Mars... so far. The UNIS has been searching for a way to keep the Martian people in their place, a way that will limit casualties while at the same time demonstrating its power. However, the harsh environment of the initially terraformed Mars has shaped his inhabitants into strong, hard-willed and wily people. To match their resolve, the colonists have begun to demonstrate their own military power: the Martian Conglomerate for True Independance. The MCTI is much smaller than its Earth-based opponent, but it has the advantage of the full support of the colonists. Not only that, but the MCTI has based its training and resources for Geurilla-style combat. With the distance of the two planets, and the stubborn competance of the Martian people, the UNIS needs a new style of weapon, and a new way of thinking. With the discovery of the Avengaean Portal and the dragons of this new world, the UNIS feels it now has a chance to break up the MCTI, quell the rebellion, and bring Mars back to interdependance with Earth. Only time will tell.
