I don't understand how anyone can agree that abortion is genocide. Genocide is by definition the extermination of a racial, political, or ethnic group, and I don't believe unborn children with negligible thought qualifies. Undeveloped and not even human yet in most cases. Yes they could technically be a living organism, but so are animals, and we don't have a problem committing 'genocide' on them. Because it's a necessary evil, we need meat for proteins and whatnot. But even hunting usually provides no monetary or nutritional value from the kill; just the satisfaction of slaying a creature. But since animals aren't humans, and we are the dominant race, we do whatever we want. We do the same thing with abortion, we dehumanize the baby so people don't consider it one of us, making it easier to kill. But if we brought every unwanted child into the world, and threw it in foster care, it would not only skyrocket our taxes; but create a wealth of parentless children. 53% of adoption homes are government funded, and 86% of children in foster care are supported by federal funds. You might not have a place in your paycheck that says "for adoption homes," but part of your tax money does go to it. At an approx. of 4.8 billion in 2001 and still rising. In 1999, there were approximately 520,000 children currently in foster care in the United States. Of these, 117,000 are eligible for adoption. That leaves about 403,000 children SOL. In 2001, 1.31 million abortions took place in the U.S.. In one single year our foster children would almost triple, and increase from there. That would be insane on our population and economy. As far as I'm concerned, abortion is a necessary evil. To be pessimistic about it, they're better off. I know I would've been. That might not be acceptable to the "facts" of the bible; But they are not facts at all, they are beliefs. No matter how much you want to argue it, you can't use some of them as facts and disregard others as out of date or no longer culturally acceptable, it's all relative to the person looking at it.
I stick to my theory that we have way too many unloved, mistreated, and generally ignored children already in the world to fill it up with more of the same. If there are so many people against abortion, why don't they all adopt. If everyone who didn't like abortion adopted a child and took care of it without asking for federal money, we would have much less problem with it. Why don't the protestors who throw blood on people at abortion clinics do something productive. Why can't they take the responsibility they're trying to push onto other people and tell people who want to have abortions that they will take her child. People have strong opinions about things and it stops at that, an opinion. Well I believe this, but not enough to do anything about it. That's the problem, everyone has a problem but they aren't willing to find the solution.
One by one we'll take our freedoms away to provide a safer America. You aren't free to do this anymore because some people don't agree with it. But isn't the very basis of freedom revolve around the ability to do something others don't agree with. Nobody needs freedom to do something everyone will applaud. Any true freedom is never absolute, and will always have potential to infringe on another. Having no faith in humanity myself, I see our freedoms being decreased daily. Everything is becoming idiot proof, child proof, child safe, foam and rubber padding. America's new motto is becoming "child safe, no matter your age". But the kids don't even care anymore anyway, anyone with a problem gets prozac or zoloft, adderall or some other mind-numbing medication; simply for being a kid. We don't need antidepressants or amphetamines; we need better counselors and maybe someone who gives a fuck about us.
