Peru

The Inca remains in Peru represent some of the most fascinating architecture in the world. This is the Inca fort outside of Cusco, called, Sacsayhuamán. It is an immense and intricate structure, here you can see the base of a tower.

The people of Peru have maintained much of their Indian heritage. This picture was taken on Independence day in the Plaza de Armas in Cusco. On this day seemingly every local public worker marches through the square in uniform.

This image was taken on Lake Titicaca, near to the Peruvian town of Puno. It is the only major Peruvian port on the lake, and it is simple to take a boat from here to the floating communities that still inhabit these straw matted islands. The islands are called the Uros, and are worth a visit, especially at sunset, when the lake seems to shimmer, and the straw houses come to life.
