To the left is one of the windmills on the island of Mikonos. The windmills overlook the town of Mikonos, close to an area called Little Venice, which was named after the houses of Venetian traders who lived on the island. The rest of the island is quite bleak other than several churches and beaches. I took the archaeological boat to Delos from the harbor, and mostly stayed in Mikonos town.

This fragment of the top of a column is on the main path through the sanctuary of Delphi. The museum at Delphi contains some incredible artifacts. The most famous of these is perhaps the Charioteer, which is a surviving fifth century bronze. The onyx inlaid eyes seem still to peer out as you stand in front of it. There are also two large Kouri and a Syphnian frieze. The Hall of the Monument of Daochos is impressive.

Close to the Panathenaic Way and the Agora, this is the Thiseion in Athens. It is also called the Doric temple of Hephaistos. It was the first building of Pericle's program, and dedicated to the patron of blacksmiths and metal workers. The remaining metopes depict the labors of Hercules and the exploits of Theseus. It is a small temple, and completely overshadowed by the looming Parthenon on the Acropolis near by.
