| 1. A key idea summarized well: The main ide that I took from the human condition hapters is that humans in many ways are alike in many aspects of thier beings. They encounter the same questions about God, death, and the after life. The human condition is affected by the ideal of Original Sin, in that Moral, Physical sin/pain, and death were brought into the world. The owrld of humans is affected by anxiety, pessimism, and dread such a world is one that I believe humans can rally together as a community to help each other as a group and understand the problem of evil in the world. 2. Three most important ideas The first main idea from this section is the idea of suffering in the human life. Rabbi Kushner presents the problem of evil as being able to be broken into 3 sections. God is either all powerful, all good, or we are not good people liek we believe we are. The rejects the latter two as not satisfactory and comes to the idea that mabye God is not all powerful. Free will makes up a major problem when confronting the problem of evil, people can choose to cause others suffering, hw can God stop suffering and stop the people's free will? Many different solution in the text are presented such things as Privation, lack of goodness, mabye there isn't a God, etc. M. Scoot Peck's Maps, I believe are also a major idea in the section. maps describe our collections of data that provide us with ways of thinking that are based on out outside awareness. Many people live lives in which they have inappropriate maps for thier age, etc. Thi idea is called transference. Peck stressed constant evaluation and evaluation of one's maps in oder to have a detailed idea on where your are going in your life. These map's prove to be a very applicable example of the over theme of course in that "the unexamined life is not worth living." The last main idea is contained in the movie What the Bleep Do We Know? The movie talks about a woman named Amanda who predesigned realities from past experiences. Throughout the movie, explained by using quantum physics, she changes her moral being. We learn of the stresses of quantum physics as being the indescribable world, and the out-there idea's and thier answers. 3. This is a picture of an outdated map, from Peck's idea of Maps; http:www.1960pcup.org/~graphics/im/old_map.jpg 4. One Question? The main question relating of my studies of the material in this course is since the ideals of Kushner have come about, have there been anymore good theories on suffering in humans' lives. 5. How can I become a better person from this study? From the ides presented in this section, I think that I've become a better ideal of my better understanding of basic questions to faith in general. Now, when challenged with arguments from the outside world, I can more adequately answer and defend my faith and reasons for my participation in it. |
