Sandy's Page

This is my belle amie Sandra Snelling. I took this shot when we were on vacation in July 2002. We stopped by her place for lunch, right after we saw the Vatican exhibit at the Texas Tech museum. Sandy took us out to lunch, and I got a whole bunch of shots of the house, the family and such. Sandy died on January 14, 2006, her 63rd birthday.

Sandy and I met in August, 1977 when we found ourselves taking into special education classes at Texas Tech. I had just gotten my first special ed. position as a resource teacher, and I had to learn all sorts of special education tests. I know we had at least five classes together during 1977-78. The following school year, I took the more advanced class in Weschler testing and she volunteered her three kiddos as subjects.

I didn't just go up to her home in Plainview, TX just to give tests. Over the next several years, I brought videos (when the concept was brand new), computer stuff, attended church with them (when we had split problems at home), and, to put it plain, she has been there at every step of the way. Sandy saw me through several women I dated, giving me the benefit of her sisterly/motherly lens. When I married Michelle, Sandy's place was a stop on the way to Amarillo, en route to Michelle's kin. Sandy was a font of wise advice these three years since Michelle left.
