Well, I couldn't exactly wait until the beginning of next year to try out a new chart format, so I hope you like it. Please feel free to send any comments on the new style to me at [email protected].
Seven debuts mark this week's chart. The LAST of 2002. I really cant' believe that I have been doing my charts for a full year now. It really has been pretty amazing that I have not missed a chart yet. I have been late a few times, but never missed one! The final chart of the year definitely sees a lot of shakeup. The main reason for this is that when I am at home, I don't my music there except what I have burnt on CD. This means that a lot of stuff goes unlistened.
This has helped and hurt songs a lot this week. A-ha almost repeak with "Did Anyone Approach You?" The song shot up 12 spots to number nine this week and was this week's biggest mover. I have been listening to it a lot this week. Don't expect it to get any higher though. Nick Carter also has been helped. His latest is this week's longevity champ. It has been on the charts for 14 weeks now and is still in the top 10. I have started listening to his second single, "Do I Have To Cry For You, but I don't think it is going to fair too well.
Unfortunately, a lot of records this week took a plunge for not being listened to. The biggest faller this week is Alicia Keys, who falls back 22 spots with her latest. My year end charts should hopefully be done by the time I post my first chart of 2003 this upcoming weekend. Until then, Happy New Year!
01 - "Clocks," Coldplay
Wow! That is really all I can say about this track. The third single from their latest album, "A Rush of Blood To The Head," and by far the best one so far. Upon first listen, I knew this was going to be another one of my "midnight" songs. If you have not heard this one, I beg you to go and take a listen!
05 - "Pray," Lasgo
This one has been on my NOW 53 CD, but I didn't really listen to it until this week finally. Good dance track and the third single to chart for Lasgo this year. Probably not going to get any higher than this, but two top five hits in a year isn't bad!
07 - "Floorfiller," A Teens
After two tries of getting on the charts with "To The Music" and "Can't Help Falling In Love" The A Teens finally have a hit here. This is VERY cheesy, but VERY fun. If you are into cheese-pop, this is definitely for you!
10 - "Sacred Trust," One True Voice
I actually downloaded this one the night I did my charts and it stuck out right away. Of course this is the boy group winner from the latest Pop Idols contest in the UK. The song is fairly catchy, although it might make a plunge next week because while it is good, it kinda get annoying if you hear it too much. Anyway, go check it out.
23 - "Be With You," Atomic Kitten
The latest from the Kittens took a bit to get to me, but now I love it. This is their third chart hit for the year and probably their most fun to dance to. There are some great remixes to from the likes of the Groove Brothers that are definitely worth checking out.
28 - "'03 Bonnie & Clyde," Jay Z feat. Beyonce Knowles
I really am not into rap music, but the background music for this song is just so damn catchy. I can actually stand hearing Jay Z rap as apposed to other rappers like Ja Rule (yuck!). This one will probably not be liked by many, but you never know!
40 - "When You Kiss Me," Shania Twain
Loopholes Loopholes Loopholes! Ok, so this is just an album track, but it has appeared on the charts, so by my rules it's eligible. I remember reading in my book of top pop singles that several songs from "Come On Over" debuted the week the album was released on the country chart. Well, I wondered if the same thing had happened this time around. Luckily, this one did just that. It debuted on the country charts at number 75 and then fell off. But it's good enough for me to chart this very beautiful song. This is definitely worthy of "cuddle" music! LOL
