Comments On This Week's Charts |
I'm still going to be foregoing on a lot of comments seeing as I have finals to study for .. oh yeah for me!! Anyway, Celine fends off Beddingfield for the top spot and stays there for a second week. The competition between these two ballads will be fierce next week, so come back to see who is on top.
Shania Twain has three songs on this weeks charts. If her latest country single can manage to get into the charts next week, that would give her a record four songs in the top 40. As far as I know, I have never had more than three songs on the top 40 at the same time. Melanie Thornton did have three songs in the top 20 at the same time, but that was more of a freak occurance and not with three current singles/B-Sides. Anyway, she is definitely taking over my charts at the moment!
With twelve weeks charted, Nick Carter is this week's longevity champ. His current rival, however, Justin Timberlake, debuts this week with appears to actually be a decent song, so watch out Nicky!
Unfortunately only having a clip of a song can lead to it not doing the best on the charts. This is the case with Erasure this week. Tell It To Me, the B-Side to their latest single falls 17 spots this week and is this week's biggest faller. Don't count them out though .. they just played an AWESOME fan club show this past Friday (which I COULDNT SEE!!!!), so I'm sure the track will stick around for a while.
Crazytown makes this week's biggest jump, up 11 spots. The song really is getting to me and might even have a chance to be number one next week .. who knows? Ok, until next week when I will be under NO stress at all :)

Keep This Fire Burning |
Robyn |
Finally I have a new song from Robyn. I'm sure most of you remember her from five and a half years ago. I know I certainly do. Her first song, Do You Know (What It Takes) spent three weeks at number one on my chart and went on to be the number one song of 1997. The two follow ups, Show Me Love and Do You Really Love Me (Show Me Some Respect), peaked in the top 5 (Show Me Love hit number one for five weeks). Then that was it! She released an album in 1999, but not in the US. I have still to hear it. I'm pretty sure it is called My Truth . This is the latest from what I'm guessing is another new album. I only hope that she gets it released in the US, where I think I remember reading she is now on Jive Records. Anyway, this one is kinda sound-a-like to Brandy's What About Us? but is really a great pop record. Go check it out!

Cry Me A River |
Justin Timberlake |
It appears that in the post-boyband world of the early '00's Justin Timberlake is still having success. I guess you could call him the Donny Osmond of this decade (wait .. maybe MICHAEL JACKSON ... who he is copying from ... would be better). His first chart hit only got to number 31 for me and while it was a good song, never did it for me. This one has a really good chorus which helps it debut this week. This one should do well, so go check it out.

Don't Let Me Down |
Will Young |
Will's third chart hit this year, following the top 10 Anything Is Possible and the top 20 Light My Fire . This one is a really good tune and kinda reminds me of George Micahel's Praying For Time (at least that's the song I THINK I'm thinking of). Anyway a very nice ballad for Mr. Young. You go boy!

In My Car (I'll Be The Driver) (B-Side to I'm Gonna Getcha Good) |
Shania Twain |
This one really isn't one of my more favorite picks from the album, but it's eligible to chart, so here it is! As I've said before .. go get the album .. I SAID GO! :)

I really can't believe that you would have to go back four years to find AOB on my charts. On the last charts I actually still own (the end of 1998), they were peaking in the top 10 with their second single from their Cruel Summer (Flowers) album, Whenever You're Near Me. This summer I really got back into that song, because it really is good. What is there to say about AOB. On my 13th birthday, my brother bought The Sign (Happy Nation) for me. That album really was my album of Junior High. I listned to it all the time. I got their follow up, The Bridge (The Bridge .. LOL .. no different European Title for this one) for Christmas in 9th Grade. That album was even better than their first, but was not successful at all. Their third album was a very minor hit in 1998, although the title track did hit the top 10 in the states. Anyway, after a failed singles collection in 2000 (Greatest Hits / Singles of the 90's ), they are back with their 4th album. Da Capo's first single, Beautiful Morning could only manage to bubble under. Their latest is ok, but really sounds a bit too much like their old stuff to really catch on with me. A good track but I don't know how well it's going to do here.
