Comments On This Week's Charts
Not too much of a shakeup this week, as Erasure maintain the top spot for a third week straight. To be honest, I don't know if this will be number one for much longer as Celine keeps inching towards the top.  I really love both songs, so only time will tell which I get sick of first!

Dirty Vegas tie X-Press 2's record of 18 week's on the chart.  If they can hold on for one more week, they will have the longest chart run on my charts since Incubus charted 20 weeks with the top hit of 2001, Drive.  My guess is that they won't but who knows???  If the song were to fall off the charts the most likely candidate to be the longevity champ next week would be Tori Amos, who would have 12 weeks and is in no danger of falling off.

Mariah is making her way "through" the countdown (insert laugher here).  Her latest is this week's biggest mover.  I really like the song, but don't know if it is going to get much higher because there is a LOT of competition, as is apparent by three debuts inside the top 15.  We'll get more to that later.

Laura Pausini and H & Claire share biggest faller honor's this week as each song falls back 14 spots.  This doesn't mean though that both singles are going to go back up, but I doubt it!  With only a month left of the year, I am getting more and more excited to do my year end charts.  They will be posted in the beginning of 2003.  Also look for a revamped appearance at the new year as well!

New On The Charts This Week
05
Last Goodbye
Atomic Kitten
Although all their songs now sound alike, this one is a good track nonetheless.  Go check it out if you haven't.  This is their latest single in the UK, and the Kitten's third chart hit of the year on my charts.

08
Hit The Freeway
Toni Braxton
This one was languishing on the lower ends of the charts for a bit, and was probably going to debut low this week due to seeing the video (with Kylie-like backup dancers).  Then, however, Craig sent me the Hex Hector radio edit!  WOW!  Great club track and what a way to give new life to a song.  This is Toni's first hit since He Wasn't Man Enough For Me, which would have been a HUGE hit in 2000 if I had been doing my charts (R & B dance songs just dont come better than that!).  Anyway, if you have heard the radio version and kinda like it, check out the Hex Hector mix!

11
Alive
S Club
It's kinda odd.  Last year when I started my charts up, I didn't even bother to chart S Club 7's Don't Stop Movin' although it was one of my favorite songs of the summer of 2001.  I guess I actually wasn't really charting a lot of non-US stuff.  Anyway, when I restarted my charts at the end of last year, I made it a point of trying to find hits from all over the world.  This year, I have charted songs from all over the world, including the US, UK, Spain, Austrailia and Norway (Ok, not ALL over, but somewhat!).  Anyway, S Club now has a new single and a new name and this one sounds a lot like their former hit, but is still a great track that hit me almost immediately.  Go check this one out!

20
Naughty Girl
Holly Vallance
Finally this sex kitten gets a hit on my charts!  Kiss Kiss and Down Boy did nothing for me, but this definitely is a good song and worth checking out.  It's a very nice downtempo number.

21
Feel
Robbie Williams
The latest from Mr. Williams isn't quite the crowd dance number I was hoping for, aka Rock DJ (still my fav RW song to date), but this one is actually quite good after a few listens.  A very nice laidback ballad that is sure to be a contender for the X-mas number one in the UK.

26
Tell It To Me
(B - Side To
Solsbury Hill)
Erasure
With the new B-side rule that I have started, it's no wonder we will see so many Erasure B-sides chart this year, probably just as high as the singles.  I am actually listening to one of their best B-Sides right now, First Contact , which was the B-Side to the Rain single in 1997.  If you have not heard that one, it's f--ing amazing and worth checking out as it was going to be included on a Star Trek soundtrack, but utlimately didn't.  Anyway, back to Tell It To Me.  Currently, I am only charting the song on a minute clip I am listening to from erasureinfo.com.  The clip is good though!  This song (along with the other B-Side Searching ) were written for inclusion on the non-existent US version of Loveboat .  They were told to try to write a Cher-style track if they were going to get the album released here.  I guess Maverick didn't like the tracks, so they dropped Erasure.  No matter, the Solsbury Hill single and Other People's Songs album will be released in the US on Mute Records North America.  Ok, so the song.  It's a good disco type number.  Go to the site and take a listen, just click on the Solsbury Hill single info and then click on Tell It To Me.  ENJOY!

38
Girl Talk
TLC
The latest from TLC honestly isn't their strongest track, but is still a good one nevertheless.  It's a shame that the album has been doing so poorly.  In its second week, the album already fell to number 24.  I don't think this one will do as well as the first single from their last album, No Scrubs, which was number one when I discontinued my charts in 1999.  Go check it out anyway though!
