Here it is! The Oz Top 40 Countdown for the week ending June 8, 2002
This was a TIGHT week this week. To be honest any of the songs in the top 4 could have easily been number one. But after all is said and done, I felt 'lazy' once again (I promise that was the last time I will use that bad pun!). I just can't get enough of this song and still am loving it. Klyie moves up to number two with what will probably be next weeks' number one song. There is a US radio remix going around, but I personally like the album version better. DJ Sammy Yanou holds at number three this week. I got a chance to dance to this song this weekend and I must tell you it is a GREAT one to dance too. This one could be number one too. I also can't get enough of Paulina Rubio's latest. I thought I was getting sick of it, but after hearing it a few times this weekend, I realized how great this song is.
There is also another contender for number one next week. I just read that there has been a video made for Crush (1980 Me) by Darren Hayes. The song is also getting airplay in Mexico. Frankly, that's good enough for me to chart this EXCELLENT song. The only problem that it has from immediately taking the top spot is that I might have been burnt out on the song. But it will definitely be top 5 next week.
This week's biggest mover is Sense Field. Save Yourself shoots back up 13 spots to number 23 this week. I gave up one this song way to early and it might head back up in the next few weeks. Beautiful moves up, reaching a new peak of 14. Cher is in a race with herself it seems. In it's 11th week, Alive Again repeaks at number 7, pushing A Different Kind of Love Song back a spot to number 8. The next few weeks will be important for these songs.
This week's biggest faller is A-ha. After holding steady at 10 for two weeks, Forever Not Yours falls 17 spots to number 27. 3SL also plummet out of the top 10. Well folks summer is here and my charts are definitely heatin' up! These next few weeks should be pretty exciting.
DEBUTS
10 - Walking On Sunshine - Jennifer Lopez J Lo seems to be everywhere these days. She is currently starring in a new movie Enough (which I liked) and has a new remix album out. I haven't bothered looking as to which album this song is on, but a friend of mine told me it was on the dance charts, so I downloaded it. GREAT song! I am charting the metro mix. This one should be a summer favorite of mine.
13 - Nod Your Head (Black Suits Comin') - Will Smith The latest from Will Smith makes a pretty big impact this week after bubbling under for a few weeks. This is due to heavy radio exposure. It seems whenever I am driving to work at 530 am (cries) this song is playing. Pretty decent song for Will Smith, who last charted with Miami back in 98/99.
20 - Don't Turn Off The Lights - Enrique Iglesias Although this is the third release from his latest album, Escape, this is the first single to actually make my charts. Hero was around when my charts were inactive (but wouldnt have charted anyway!) and Escpape is a pretty decent song, but just never had enough to make it on here. His latest just seems to have the right mix for me. His best song thus far is definitely Be With You, without a doubt THE standard of pop/dance songs.
28 - Precious Illusions - Alanis Morrisette This song is also the first single to chart from Alanis's third US album, Under Rug Swept. Hands Clean managed to bubble under, but couldn't get enough steam to chart. This song wasn't going to either until I really listened to it, and am starting to really like it. Don't know where this one will go, but I'm along for the ride!
34 - Hot In Herre - Nelly After just missing the charts the past two weeks, the first single from Nelly's new album, Nellyville makes its debut. Nelly's last appearance was with the top 10 hit, Ride With Me, last year. I doubt this will do that well, but it's a catchy and fun song nonetheless.
Well, that's all for this week folks, check back next week to see if X-Press 2 can hold on to #1, or if Darren, Kylie, DJ Sammy & Yanou, or even Paulina will claim the top spot!!
Until next week |
