Here it is! The Oz Top 40 Countdown for the week ending April 27, 2002

I was feeling a big 'lazy' this week in the fact that the number one song hasn't changed.  X-Press 2 remains in the top spot this week with their hit song,
Lazy.  I got to see the video for this song on dotmusic.com.  VERY original, I like it alot.  X-Press has some very pressing compeition, however, in the form of Paulia Rubio.  She is this weeks highest debut at number 2.  Paulina is a mexican artist who has been releasing spanish-language albums since 1992.  Her first english single, Don't Say Goodbye, just debuted this week on the Hot 100, is a VERY great song.  I have been recomending it to everyone.  She is definitely a threat for number one next week.

The next song to debut is actually not really that new.  Last fall, Amber released the hot dance song,
Yes, and after downloading it this week, I finally got around to charting it!  Her latest single, We Need To Be Naked, also debuts at number 34 this week.  4 Strings makes thier first chart appearance at number 22 with Take Me Away Into The Night.  This is a great dance song that keeps getting better with each listen.  Our final two debuts this week are at numbers 37 and 38.  LMNT is a boyband who's first release, Juliet, was actually released last November, but just finally hit Radio & Records airplay charts, and my countdown.  Now, this is a VERY cheesy boyband song, so if it makes it nowhere on everyone else's charts, I wouldn't be suprised!  Lately, I have been seeing the Mitsubishi commercial with that cool female dancer and have been dying to find out what song it is.  Well, I finally got it yesterday.  The song, which sounds like Modjo, is Days Go By by Dirty Vegas.  It's not a bad song, but honestly I don't expect to see much from it.  There really isn't much to it.

Brandy earns this week's biggest mover award, rocketing up 10 spots to number 8 with the second released from her album,
Full Moon.  Two songs get to share this week's biggest faller award.  At numbers 20 and 40 respectively, are Darren Hayes and Beverley Knight who each fall 14 spots with their latest releases.  Next week, look for big debuts by Marc Anthony and Lighforce.  X-Press has got a lot of work ahead of itself if they want to be number one for a third week.  So check back to see.

Until next week
