| Comments: It seems that I have done a bit of spring cleaning this week as ten songs debut! Whew! It just happens occasionally. Let's get down to them: R&B group Field Mob have their first top 40 hit with "Sick of Being Lonely." Next is Madonna. Oh, Madonna! I honestly think this song is going to be a flop on my charts. It really is lacking a strong chorus, as was the case with "Die Another Day." That one was catchy though, much more than this one. If this becomes a hit in the states, I think it will only do so on the basis that it's Madonna. Girls Aloud missed the charts with their debut single, but finally chart with their second single at number 34. The man in the US at the minute, 50 cent, debuts at 33. I like this song, but it's use of the word "faggot" probably won't let it stay long here. No surprise though, as he is on Eminem's label. And although I liked "Loose Yourself," I WILL NOT chart him! The Donnas are next at 32. This group is kinda a '00's Go-Go's. Good and catchy song! Shania's second UK single, "Ka-Ching!," is new at 30. I really hope that "What A Way To Wanna Be" is going to be a single, as I feel it's one of the strongest tracks on the album. LISTEN TO ME! Scooter and Christina Aguilera each earn another hit on my charts. If they can reach the top 10, it will be each artists second top 10 (though "Lady Marmallade" is technically her second). Avril Lavigne and Dead or Alive round out the debuts this week. Avril's 4th US single and 3rd to chart on my chart comes in at number 16. "You Spin Me Round" is one of my favorite songs from the 80's and this remix is pretty good, though it seems that lately most "modern" remixes take the "Kylie" route (ie. offbeat bass as in "Can't Get You Out of My Head"). The top 5 holds this week, with La Bouche and Coldplay switching. Lisa Marie Presley earns this week's biggest mover. Missy Elliot finally earns this week's Longevity Champ award, but also earns Biggest Faller award. This song will probably fall off next week, which means that Erasure will then hold the award, but "Solsbury Hill" is finally starting to wear with me, so don't be surprised to see it fall next week. That's all for this week ... until next week .... |
