Comments:

Happy Birthday to me!  If you couldn't tell, today is my birthday!  The big 2-2 (all downhill from here! ... kidding) and celebrated my birthday by buying Erasure tickets!  I got 4 tickets in the 8th row (yeah!) to see them in Chicago.  Spent 336 bucks, but I don't care.  I am just so pumped to see them and am counting the days and weeks until I get to go!

The past few weeks have really been about Erasure, and this week again is no exception.  In addition to buying tickets, I finally got my hands on their latest single, "Solsbury Hill," this week.  I tried to get the US single from a local store, but no on had it.  So I went to amazon.com and bought it.  I am still waiting on the UK releases, but I have all of the mixes and B-Sides on the US Maxi single.  Technically, there are 4 B-Sides I could chart from this single.  They are "Tell It To Me," "Video Killed The Radio Star," "Ave Maria," and the one that makes this week's highest debut.  "Searching" is just an extremely fun, catchy song.  This one is perfect for the clubs and was immediately in my head.  I had read nothing but great reviews of it, so I knew I was going to like it.

So why isn't it number one this week?  Well, to be honest, the lyrical content of this song needs a major overhaul!  The lyrics sound like they were written in 5 minutes.  Not good Andy!  You were right when you said you were getting lazy at songwriting.  Another reason is that Coldplay have prooved to be an unstopable force at the number one spot.  "Clocks" now sits at number one for a fifth week.  Two more weeks and it will have the longest number one stay of the Oz Top 40 Era.

Celine Dion charges up to number 3 this week with her latest, and Cyndi keeps rebounding to number 4 this week.  Frankly, I don't think either song will go higher because I have a feeling that Erasure and Coldplay will be battling it out for number one for the next few weeks.  Also, now that I have official confirmation that the next Erasure single is going to be "Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)," it will be eligible to chart as early as next week.  We very easily could have an Erasure 1-2-3 punch next week if "Solsbury Hill" can climb back up the charts.  "Other People's Songs" comes out on Tuesday and I will be listening to it non-stop all week!  I am so excited!

Paulina Rubio makes an amazing comeback on my charts this week.  "The One That You Love" originally charted late last summer, but could only manage to get to number 22.  I saw the video for the song (in spanish) this week and realized how great of a song it really is.  I then saw it on one of my friend's charts, so I decided to rechart it.  The third single is currently bubbling under.

Divine Inspiration make this week's biggest move, up 16 to number 13 this week.  Justin Timberlake finally has gotten into my head with his latest, which moves up 14 spots to number 14.  Robyn makes this week's biggest fall to number 39, but don't count her out just yet.  I have a feeling she might just go back up, but I could be wrong.

Nick Carter has how tied the record for longest chart life in the Oz Top 40 Era.  Only "Ghosts" by Dirty Vegas, "Lazy" by X-Press 2 feat. David Byrne, and "Alive Again" by Cher have had longer chart lives.  Speaking of Cher, I am still waiting on official confirmation that there is going to be another double A-side release here in the States.  When I get that confirmation "Love One Another" and "When The Money's Gone" will be on the charts.

And now, in case you haven't gotten enough Erasure yet, there is a nice tie-in to the debut at number 17.  "All Cried Out" by German Popstars winners No Angels, is a cover of an Alison Moyet song.  As you probably already know, Alison was a member of Yaz(oo) with Vince Clarke of Erasure.  The rest of this week's debuts are all nicely clumped at 34,35, & 36.  Aimee Allen's debut hit actually was released last fall, but after all this time, I finally got around to charting it.  She is an Avril-wanna be in case you are curious about her.  Craig David makes his second chart appearance from his latest album this week.  Finally, the Counting Crows feat. Vanessa Carlton debut with their cover of Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi."

Grammys were recently announced.  I was surprised to see Tonic on the list, and because of it, their latest reenters at 38 this week.  Their follow up is already out, so I will get around to checking that one out.  Well, that's all for this week.  Enjoy!
