Comments:

Again this week was all about Erasure!  I learned this week that they will be going on tour across the US and Canada.  The closet they will be coming to me is Chicago on March 10th.  And best of all, the tickets go on sale on my B-Day!  (the 25th in case you're marking your calendars!).  This along with seeing Erasure perform on BBC's "Top of the Pops" has driven "Solsbury Hill" right back up the charts.  Unfortunately, Coldplay isn't quite ready to give up the number one spot, as they hold on for a 4th week (also one of the song's B-sides, "Tell It To Me" falls off the charts this week).  Next week is going to be a big week in the top 5.  Not only will Coldplay and Erasure be battling it out, there will be some other contenders duking it out for the top spots!

Just as Celine Dion's last single, "Goodbye's (The Saddest Word)," makes its way to the exit (number 40 this week), her new single debuts at number 8.  "I Drove All Night" was originally sung by Roy Orbison in 1988 (not sure if he wrote it too).  Anyway, this is the first single from Celine's new album.  Kinda hard to believe she's already releasing another one, but with the success she had from her last one ("A New Day Has Come" (Top 10), "I'm Alive" (Top 30), and "Goodbye's (The Saddest Word)" (Number One)), there is no doubt that she will also make 2003 a successful year as she opens her Vegas show.

If Celine's latest becomes a hit in the US, it won't be the first time the song has done so.  Back in 1989, Cyndi Lauper took the song into the top 10 (it was her last in the US).  Speaking of Cyndi, her latest, fueled by the Tracy Young Radio Edit, makes this week's biggest move.  In the song's 14th non-consecutive week on the charts, it darts back up to reach a new peak of 9.  Previously, the song had only made it to number 11 it's first week way back at the end of September.  I'm not sure if this new lease on life is going to keep the song charting high for long.  I have a tendency of killing rechartings before they begin.  So only time will tell.

Nick Carter makes another move back up the charts this week.  "Help Me" is now in it's 17th week and shows no signs of dying.  Next week it should tie the record for most weeks charted in the Top 40.  Two more weeks and it will hold the record all by itself.  There are a number of songs that are right behind it though waiting to fill it's shoes.  Jakatta continues to climb back up the chart.  This week the song is at number 4 in its 15th week on the charts.  I'm pretty sure that this is as high as the song is going to get, but you never know.

Further down the chart, newcomer Dana Glover makes her chart debut at number 21 with "Thinking It Over."  Very beautiful ballad worth checking out.  Atomic Kitten and the A Teens former top 3 hits are both taking bit cuts this week  A Teens fall back 18 spots and are this week's biggest faller.  At number 29 is a chart debut for Divine Inspiration.  "The Way (Put Your Hand In My Hand)" made it to number 5 in the UK last week and is actually a few years old according to dotmusic, first being released in 1999 I think.  Either way, it's a great dance song.

Speaking of dance songs, Flip & Fill have made a very fun dance remake of Whitney's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody."  It went in at number 13 in the UK last week.  The song only incorporates the chorus of the song, but nonetheless is pretty campy and fun.  It debuts this week at number 36.  Whew!  I am glad to be caught up with my charts.  Come back next week to see who is number one and who's not!
