Periodotal Problems
Gum Disease
Gum disease is an infection of the gums and the bone that supports the teeth which is caused by plaque. While seldom painful and frequently free of symptoms, it can progress undetected to the point where supporting bone is destroyed.
Periodontal Problems Treatment
The goals of treating periodontal disease includes the removal of the plaque farther on the root surface and the reduction of the pockets where bacteria live. The goal is to reduce the pocket depth. Early periodontal disease can be treated with scaling and deep cleaning, with the use of local anesthesia. Moderate and advanced stages require additional periodontal procedures
Gum disease does not only affect the gums and the insides of your mouth but also affects the entire body. If you have gum disease, you are running the risk of many other much worse problems such as stroke, heart disease, diabetes, gastric ulcer, osteoporosis and pre- term babies.
