I'm a graduate student here at Oxford, attached to Worcester College. I'm currently studying karst in Jamaica as well as the applicability of GIS to morphometric studies of karst landscapes. Go to my Karst GIS page to see what I'm up to... I'm from Jamaica, where I got my BSc. (1st Class Hons.) in Earth Science from the University of the West Indies. My current study area is in the Cockpit Country in Jamaica, which is the type area for cockpit karst, with a distinct 'eggbox' topography, with little or no surface drainage. I intend to research the origins and controls on the development of this cockpit karst, as well as use GIS as a serious morphometric tool in karst study, ranging from the simple - study area delimitation, different vector overlays - to more serious applications - creation of DEMs, slope maps, and TINs from elevation data. Statistical analysis would also be used to interpret the data.
