Goal:
This course includes philosophy and rationale for the teaching of Language Arts to young children.  Focus is on the developing language skills with young children.  These include how to develop a language rich environment at the early childhood level. Topics include oral language, pre-reading activities and writing activities.

This week is to orient you with online instruction.  We will try to work out any problems with emailing documents or attachments. Have no fear, we will work together and learn together.
Assignments:
1.  Email me a short description of who you are, what grade level you are teaching, and where you are in the program.  Please let me know if you are using a PC or MAC and what word processing program you are using. Please email my Chaminade account and send a copy (cc) to my personal yahoo account.  Thank you.

2.  Print or save the syllabus from the homepage of the Chaminade Ecollege website. Review the syllabus.  It will be up and running on the first day of class.  Email me with any questions. 

3.  Order the textbook if you have not already.  You can call the bookstore for details.  The book is called,
Early Childhood Language Arts,  written by M. Jalongo.  You can also order it online if you wish.

4.  Read Chapters 1,2 and 3 for next week.

5.  Review Class Notes.
I will post the new class module each Sunday.  You have one week to turn in the assignment.  Each week's assignment is due by the next Sunday before midnight (which would be Monday morning).  Any late assignments will be accepted but points will be taken off.  Please get all assignments in on time to avoid this.  Thanks.
