Dear
Parents,
I
am happy to have your child in my class this year. With your encouragement, your son/daughter will be a part of
many exciting and rewarding experiences this academic year.
Since
lifelong success depends in part on learning to make responsible choices, I have
developed a classroom discipline plan that affords every student guidance in
making good decisions about their behavior and thus an opportunity to learn in a
positive, nurturing classroom environment. Your child deserves the most positive educational climate
possible for his/her growth, and I know that together we will make a difference
in this process. The plan below
outlines our classroom rules, possible rewards, and consequences.
There are a few rules of conduct which, if we all work together to maintain them, will make the year more comfortable, successful, and enjoyable for all. Most of these rules involve ordinary courtesy and respect for the rights of others. I would appreciate the following.
1.
Follow
directions the first time given.
2.
Keep
hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
3.
Walk!
Don’t run.
4.
Stay in
seat unless you have permission to get up.
5.
Raise
your hand and wait to be called on before speaking in class.
To encourage students to follow these classroom rules, I will recognize appropriate behavior with praise, emails, notes, and stickers. Occasionally students have problems in class. I will take the following steps in responding to misconduct:
1. The first offense will result in a verbal warning.
2. Loss of activity time. Write the rule(s) broken and what could be done to solve the problem.
3. Parent contact. Copy the “Student’s Guide for Success” and comment on rule(s) broken.
4. Send pupil to principal’s office.
5. Student support room.
6. Out of school suspension.
7. If the misconduct is severe enough, these actions may be accelerated without following the preceding steps.
Be
assured that my goal is to work with you to ensure the success of your child
this year. Please read this
classroom discipline plan with your child, then sign and return the form below.
Thank you for your time and cooperation.
Yours
for a great school year,
