FIVE STEPS TO HEAVEN
STEP
1
ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE SINNED. The
Bible says in Romans 3:10 and 3:23, “As it is written, there is none
righteous, no, not one.”
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” How
many have sinned?
God says, “ALL HAVE SINNED.”
I would be the first to admit that I have sinned in my life.
Do you believe you have committed any sins in your life?

STEP
2
REALIZE THERE IS A PENALTY FOR SIN. “For
the wages of sin is DEATH . . .” Romans 6:23a This
also includes a second death. Revelation
21:8 tells us what the second death is and who will experience it: “But
the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and
whoremongers (those who commit sexual sins), and sorcerers, and idolaters,
and ALL LIARS, shall have their part in the lake which burns with
fire and brimstone: which is the SECOND DEATH.” The
SECOND DEATH is eternal separation from God in the lake of fire, a
terrible place God calls “hell” many times in the Bible.
We read the word “murderers.”
A person would have to murder just one individual to be a murderer.
We also read the word “liars.”
A person would have to tell just one lie to be a liar.
Notice that God already has said, “All liars—not just some
liars or most liars—all liars shall have their part in the lake which
burns with fire.” So far
from what we have seen in God’s Word, where would you go if you died
right now?

STEP
3 ACKNOWLEDGE THAT JESUS CHRIST
PAID THE PENALTY OF SIN FOR YOU. Romans
5:8 says that He did:
“But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were
yet sinners, Christ DIED FOR US.” Remember
that the penalty for sin is separation from God.
Jesus experienced this for us.
When He hung on the cross, God laid the sins of the world on Jesus,
and Jesus became separated from God the Father.
That is why Jesus cried out from the cross, “My God, My God, why
has Thou forsaken Me?”
Of course , the Lord Jesus Christ arose from the dead three days
later.

STEP
4 REALIZE
THAT GOD NOW WANTS TO GIVE YOU A GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE IN HEAVEN. Romans
6:23b tells us the good news: “The
gift of God is ETERNAL LIFE through Jesus Christ
our Lord.” Eternal
life is eternal union with God which begins now and will continue in
heaven the instant we die physically.
If we receive God’s gift of eternal life, we shall go to heaven
the minute we die.

STEP
5 YOU MUST BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS THE LORD AND ASK HIM TO SAVE
YOU IN ORDER TO HAVE ETERNAL LIFE IN HEAVEN. God
promises in Romans 10:9 and 10: “That
if thou shalt confess with thy MOUTH the Lord Jesus, and shalt
believe in thine HEART that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou
shalt be saved. For with the HEART
man believeth unto righteousness; and with the MOUTH confession is
made unto salvation.” When
we believe in our HEART that Christ died for our sins and was
raised from the dead, God gives us His very own righteousness.
But there is also something we do with our MOUTH.
Romans 10:13a says, “For whosoever shall CALL upon the
name of the Lord (Jesus) shall be saved.” God
promises that He will save anyone from sin and hell who calls on the Lord
Jesus Christ and asks Christ to be his Savior and to save him. Call
on the Lord Jesus Christ in prayer. Tell
Him that you are receiving Him as your personal Savior and ask Him to save
you and to give you eternal life in heaven.

ASKING
JESUS TO SAVE YOU, YOU CAN PRAY THIS PRAYER: “Dear
Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God and that you died for me.
Forgive my sins. I ask
you to be my Savior from sin and to save my soul.
Give me your gift of eternal life in heaven.
Help me now to live for You. I
pray in your name. Amen.” Does
this prayer express the desire of your heart?
If it does, pray the prayer right now from your heart.

ASSURANCE
OF SALVATION AND ETERNAL LIFE: Remember
God’s promises—“He that believes on the Son has everlasting life . .
.” John 3:36
“For
whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10:13 Did
you sincerely believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and
ask Him to forgive you?
If so, you are saved and on your way to heaven.
Otherwise God would be breaking His promises which would make Him a
liar, and that is impossible (Titus 1:2). |
