And there are so many more...
Out of the ones I listed that suck, I believe Eminem is the worst. He is obnoxious and annoying. For one, he is a homophobe, which I find incredibly stupid. Even more stupid than that is the fact that he apologized to the gay community for his homophobic lyrics. Doesn't want to step on anybody's toes, he might lose some record sales, but he wants to offend people at the same time. And, he has created a little cycle: A couple of years after the Marshall Mathers LP came out, Eminem noticed he was losing popularity, so he released the Eminem Show. Here in about 2 years or so, he'll start to lose steam again, and he'll release another album. This will go on and on until people realize what a fucking dipshit he is and stop buying his music.
On the other side of the spectrum is the Offspring, quite possibly my favorite band. My introduction to punk was Ixnay on the Hombre, and it was one of the coolest albums ever as well.
I see MTV as kind of a bait-and-switch deal. You're thinking, "Wow! Music Television? They play music videos? Sounds cool!"
Then, you watch MTV:
YOU: "Hey, where are the videos?"
MTV EXEC: "Oh, videos? Gee, if you want videos, you'll have to pay
again for our other station, MTV2."
YOU:"Go fuck yourself."
Why I don't do album reviews:
I don't do album reviews because everyone's taste in music is so different that what one person might consider crap another might love. Video games are different, pretty much everyone has the same opinion on what games are good and what are bad, sure there are some that only a few people like, but for the most part people can agree on what's a good game and what isn't.
For example, I read a review of The Process of Belief by Bad Religion in Blender magazine. In retrospect, I shouldn't have even considered their opinion to be valid because it's a mainstream music magazine owned by Maxim. Regardless, they gave it 2 out of 5 stars, yet put Kid Rock's Devil Without a Cause in the Top 100 Greatest American Rock CDs of all time. That, to me, seems horribly wrong.
