Dear Mr.Johnson, I received my A because I improved my vocabulary, gained a better "sense" of writing, and discovered how to truly enjoy literature.
At the beginning of the semester, I was worried about how I would do in this class. As I read more books, I realized that vocabulary was the weakest part for me. So, I studied! I memorized 200 words a day in order to emulate my seniors, but the amount was reduced to 50 at the end. Also, I learned word roots from Latin and Greek, which helped me greatly whenever I encountered new words. Thus, I aced every Vocabulary Test.
In the preliminary period, I was tested on a mock SAT2 Writing exam, and I panicked. I did not know how to improve my essays. However, thanks to your advice, I made it; though I have to try harder. I read good essays written by great writers and practiced constantly by keeping a diary. Keeping a diary really helped me much because when I "save" my thoughts, emotions, and reflections in the book, they remain as a source or inspiration for writing good essays.
Last, before coming to KMLA, I considered literature the most boring subject. However, I have drastically changed. I laughed and cried, and I marked the most moving phrases when reading books, something I never used to do before. Moreover, I read about the natures of great writers and got absorbed in their thinking. I even tried to imitate their styles. I began to understand what a writer's sense is, anyway.
I feel proud of having changed myself so dramatically. However, most of all, I thank you for guiding me to find true plaesure in learning English. I still try hard to grab deeper sense for writing and literature and I hope my constant effort will produce a spectacular result someday.
