Dedicated to Elvis & all other SOM Students

This is a big picture, but it says a lot. It is the ticket to freedom after 6 months in the School of Music (SOM). There were 2 major auditions to evaluate your progress & ability, the F1 (half way) & F2 (final audition at end of course). You had to attain a certain score on the F1 to continue in the school and you had to attain a higher score on the F2 in order to graduate. Failure to pass either audition would result in the student being pulled out of the school of music and sent to training for a job of the Department of the Army's selection. Usually a student would be given a second chance to take the audition, if failed, unless they were so far below standards that it was unrealistic that they would pass.
Students who passed their F2 would take their score sheet, like mine above, and post it on their door, like mine was. Their buddies would often stop by and write things on it, kind of like signing a high school year book. You may notice on the bottom right corner of mine, this Specialist that was re-training to be an Army Bandsman wrote down this little song that he used to go around singing. "PFC's, PFC's can't get enough of those PFC's. They work all day, they work all night. PFC's, Agh Agh Agh Agh. " PFC being a Private, First Class, as were most Army Band students. The work he was referring to was all of the cleaning that we did at that school. I have never seen such a clean place in my life.
