Technology Management: In my classroom, there is only one computer available for student use. At Redland Middle School, a computer lab is available on-site for class useage. Times and dates will be scheduled in the computer lab for the students to conduct their research. Internet safety will be provided by a "firewall" established within the Miami-Dade County Public Schools internet site. This project is intended to introduce the student to the wealth of information available via the internet.
Classroom Management: Students will work cooperatively in groups of two or three students. This group approach will allow students with limited computer literacy and/or limited English proficiency to participate in this project. Students who misbehave or misuse the computer equipment will be excluded from the project and receive a failing grade.
Time Management: This project will be completed within two months. The students will be provided with two blocks of computer lab usage time and one block of classroom time. At the conclusion of their research, each student will present their unique information verbally to their class. The verbal presentation will be short, no longer than three to five minutes.
