The piezo speaker shouldn't be permanently affected by water (was it?). The speaker is also separate from the rest of the electronics as it has to be mounted exposed to the outside of the box, so this feature should be the same for both brands. Pieps does use smaller components on their circuit board, but I doubt that shock is going to be a serious problem with beacons. Unless you're a really serious mogul skier, that is ;^) I'm particularly worried about the way that the board inside my Pieps rattles around. I haven't seen any F1's that do this. Neener neener! My beacon sucks more than yours, Dara! ______________________________________________________________________________ /\ /\ /\ /\ / \ / \ /\ / \ / \ / \/\ / \ / \ / \ / \ / \ / \ / \ / \ / \/ \/ \/ \ / \ / / \ O \/ \ / / /||\ <--- Telemarker \ / _|\ \ | \ -David Veale /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ //\\ //\\ //\\ //\\ //\\ //\\ (dveale@nwcl.net) //\\ //\\ //\\ //\\ //\\ //\\ (206)853-8543 || || || || || || Concrete, WA || || || || || || //// ////// || || || || || || <<<<<==== <<<<<<<==== || || || || || || _||____||_____\\\\___||___\\\\\\___||___||____||____||____||____||____||______
