Okay...about to bite into a Strawberry Shortcake ice cream bar. Let's see how it tastes. Verdict: it's okay. I'll probably get the ice cream sandwich instead next time...or the healthier but more expensive frozen fruit bar. My parents have really been pushing me on this health track. I've been drinking Aloe Vera juice everyday along with a Centrum and 1000mg of Vit. C and occassionally Vit. E. This morning I bought some Vit. B-complex and Zinc, which are all supposed to be good for the Immune system. I've had problems with recurrent oral apthous ulcers (canker sores) for many years now...and they stay for months at a time. That's why I'm trying to eat healthier...because my parents insist it's my diet, but I know for a fact they are wrong!!!

Hmmmm...I just popped open a can of this Slim-Fast...and it ain't too bad. It's fortified with nutrients and taste a lot better than what I had earlier today. I tried this crushed grain drink mix that my mom sent to me. It was nasty, and even though mixed with water still felt like I was drinking powder. These are the ingredients and you tell me if you would drink it. (Brown rice, barley, soybean, glutinous millet, indian millet, adlay, corn, kale, aloe, red bean). There isn't even any sugar to make it taste good. Yuck.

Man arrested in bank theft; police want money back

IRVINE, Calif. An alleged bank robber tossed stolen cash from his car as he fled police, and passing motorists promptly scooped up the bills, authorities said. Reza Sabouri, 27, of Trabuco Canyon, robbed a Bank of America on Friday, police said. They said he threw the money during a pursuit that ended when he stopped at a golf course and was arrested. Motorists who gathered the money were asked to contact Irvine police.

Yeah right...like that will ever happen!!!

Just got back from dinner at VR with a bunch of church folks. We celebrated Cathy's birthday today (or yesterday rather). There was about 14 of us all together and after dinner we went over to Cosi's to talk more. Made for a very fun night. People told me that when I get too involved into a conversation I get too loud and excited. I guess I need to work at being more like a Kevin and not talk. We had a lot of fun just talking about past events like the Scavenger Hunt and the Camping and Canoeing trip.

Past weekend was a lot of fun. On Saturday Phileo had their 2002 City-wide Scavenger Hunt. As an organizer, I was very discouraged by the turn out, but later on, we had so much fun, it was almost a perfect evening. After the hunt we went over to Dan and BY's apartment but instead of watching a movie, we played a group game instead. That too was a lot of fun.

After church on Sunday a bunch of us went over to Kathy's place. She's kind of new to our church and we helped her move a 20" TV into her apartment and played Tim's Nintendo Game Cube for a couple of hours. Later we all went to dinner at Olive Garden.

On my way to work today it kind of hit me...I need to live a strong spiritual life. I'm just living day to day going through the motions. I need to start doing quiet time. Almost every morning before leaving for work and coming back from work, I water my neighbor's flowers (they've kind of neglected them after planting them). And in just a week, I've noticed that they've gone from flowerless, dying, green stems to flowering, colorful plants. They have yet to grow any bigger but I'm hoping that a little more patience and faithfulness, they will be big, wonderful plants. I'm hoping my spiritual life could kind of be like that. At first I was "too busy" to water the plants, because I needed to get to work, but I realized if I don't take the time, no one else will. I guess the same holds true for my spiritual life. If you could, please pray for my spiritual life. Thanks.

Hey this is cool. My brother and sister-in-law just arrived at my apartment and finally it gave me the reason to clean up my apartment, wash my month old dishes, and fix up my temporary computer. My main one is all screwed. Sucker freezes in safe mode. Anyway it's nice to be back on the web at home and not just at work.

Friday, July 26, 2002

Thank God it's Friday. Network at work is down, so I can't really do my work. Not like I really would anyway right. he he he

My place is a pig sty and I got so much cleaning to do before my brother and sister-in-law come to visit tonight. On top of that I might have small group at my place tonight as well. I've gots a ton of cleaning to do today. I still need to unpack my stuff from my cube change here at the office.

I need to go get some lunch. Later.

Dang...spent most of my morning in a long, boring, and useless meeting. And since I had to wake up earlier for the meeting I naturally dozed off a few times during the meeting. After that I had lunch and went to this hackers demo. Basically our company wanted to show us how easy it is to hack into someone's computer, but the interesting part is they didn't show us how to prevent it. So basically they were teaching us how to hack. I feel like going home and loading the "free" program they used I think called "Back Orpheous" or something like that. They said if I downloaded it here at work, that could be grounds for termination of employment.

Yesterday's CMU soiree was a lot of fun. This CMU alumn receieved money from the school to open up his place and host a little get-together. I met a few new people and was even able to give out my business card to this one chinese girl. She's supposedly going to introduce me to some Korean girls in her program, but I doubt that'll happen. I also looked through the CMU class of '99 year book and the nostalgia just set in...especially after seeing my ex's picture. Wow...she looks so pretty. I'm such an idiot for letting her go. Argh!!! My picture wasn't in the year book because I never submitted one. At that time, I thought only the "nerds" do that kind of stuff. Now I feel like such a loser because my picture is not in the year book and also because I don't have a year book.

I forgot to add in my last post this website. Binary Numbers and South Korean Flag. Me and my cubemate, also named Donald were so facinated with the Korean flag today we had to figure out what it all meant.

I'm supposed to move my stuff two cubes down tomorrow morning in an effort to regroup and fit another team that's moving into the building.

Tonight I'm supposed to get together with some CMU Alumni at this guy's place. It'll be nice to just hang out and get to know the other folks. After that me and a friend are going to check out this new Korean/Japanese place in Old City.

Great news today. Our company just won the KDX-III contract. Have a read of the contract win. This could finally mean I can move to Korea live there for a while and still keep a good job in this weak economy. I'm going to Korea!!! WOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!

Lockheed Martin Beats Thales to Win Navy's Combat System Bid
By Sohn Suk-joo

South Korea yesterday awarded U.S. Lockheed Martin Corp. a 1.2 trillion-won ($1 billion) contract to supply three sophisticated Aegis naval defense systems for the Navy's destroyers, the Defense Ministry announced yesterday.

Dutch firm Thales Nerderland offered a newly-developed system called Active Phased Array Multifunction Radar (APAR), but Korean evaluators said that the Dutch system fell far short of required operational capabilities.

"The APAR combat system did not fit with our project schedule, and its documents for required operational capabilities (ROC) did not match the results of our field evaluation test," said Commodore Bae Hyung-soo, chief of the KDX-III Project.

The Aegis system, to be installed on three 7,000-ton KDX-III destroyers by 2012, is designed to simultaneously track and shoot down a number of aircraft.

The same model, used in the U.S. and Japanese navies, is capable of collecting three-dimensional information for anti-aircraft, anti-ship and anti-submarine defense at a radius of 500 km. It will be equipped with advanced ballistic missiles.

"We will not have to worry about Styx or Silkworm anti-ship missiles of North Korea if we have the sophisticated combat system," a Navy official said, asking to remain anonymous.

To build a deep-sea fleet, the government, which is currently building 4,200-ton KDX-II destroyers, will build a 7,000-ton destroyer outfitted with the Aegis system by 2008 and two others in 2010 and 2012, respectively, at the cost of 2.76 trillion won ($2.1 billion).

Woooo-weeee.....I just read my friend's Sambo's weblog. That boy's got problems. Claims he's not a Korean-hater. Thing is, he's a Chinese-lover. Sambo, let me cut your hair. It's free, and if you don't like it...well at least you didn't have to pay for it :) It'll be just like the good old glory days of free CMU haircuts. Just give me "the book" a day before I give you the cut. I know how to follow directions. ;)

Well yesterday I found out that the CMU soiree isn't until tomorrow. Good thing I called and left a message first before going. Anyway I gotta figure out what to do next at work now that my presentation is over.

Monday, July 22, 2002

My presentation went okay, but I was terrible. I didn't know what to say, how to say it, or when to say it. I'm such a blathering idiot. Good thing my team memebers backed me up. I probably learned more about the stuff I was presenting than the people I was presenting to.

I'm supposed to go to a CMU event in Philly which was scheduled like a month ago, but I tried calling the dude today to see if it was still on, but he didn't pick up. I'm not sure what to do. Well I guess I can always be late.

This weekend was certainly interesting. On Friday, Phileo was devoted to the guys, since the women were away at their women's conference. After that we went to a late night dinner in Chinatown.

On Saturday I went biking with Kevin, Ted, and Sun. We biked around 24 miles from Manayunk to Valley Forge!!! I was so dead tired when I got back and to add to the misery, I had locked my keys in my car. Graciously Kevin drove me back to my apartment so I could get my spare keys to the car. Then we went to Ed's place and chilled for a bit. For dinner we drove to King of Prussia Mall's food court and had dinner there. We finished off the night with a late showing of "K-19 The widowmaker". It's not exactly what I expected (I think partly because of the movie trailers are a bit misleading), but it was still a pretty good movie. The other submarine movies like "Crimson Tide", and "U-571" were definitely more action-packed.

Sunday was like any other Sunday except for the fact that Sunday morning service was plauged with technical problems. Plus the sound card on the computer for recording the sermons was kind of broken. After church a few of us went to Tae's to hang out and have dinner. I left his house at 11pm because I was too caught up playing Counter Strike on his computer.

That leads me to today. I have a presentation to give at 2pm. We'll see how that goes.

I thought this was funny.

Friday, July 19, 2002

Yesterday night I met up with my friends. It was fun. 8 of us showed up and we had dinner together. After dinner we went to go watch a movie. If you were thinking of watching "Reign of Fire", you're better off throwing away $8.50 into the garbage and saving yourself 2 hours of needless boredom. What a stupid movie. Plot was stupid and things just didn't make sense. Special effects looked pretty gay too.

When I got home I enjoyed a second viewing of NONSTOP. A second time through and I'm beginning to understand the dialogue. Now if only I could arrange to have the TV/VCR in my work cube I'd be all set. Not like they know I work here anyway. he he he.

Thursday, July 18, 2002

I've been watching Korean videos lately. I went to Han-Ah-Reum a few days ago and picked up two videos. One of them is call NON-STOP. It's a goofy sit-com that is very similar to this other sit-com, JUMP, from a while back. NON-STOP is funny and even though I don't understand the Korean, I can understand what's going on. I'm not sure what the name of the other video is, but I'm trying to determine if I'll continue watching it or not. There is this really really annoying girl that doesn't know how to act and looks too tall and ugly...but on the other hand there is this really really cute girl, but she doesn't nearly get enough air time. Oh, the decisions I have to make!!!!

I really wonder if I'm going to be able to do this every day or even every week. It seems like a great idea but it just seems like it's too much work, especially since I'll be doing this straight from notepad. I think the other bloggers have some sort of form they use and it's all automated. I'd like to do that but I don't want to have to sign up for some kind of account in order to do it.

Work has been kind of busy today. Today has definitely been my busiest this week...and this week has been the busiest in months. Yet I still have all this time to write this entry. Gov't contracting is a great job if you want to be lazy.

I'm supposed to have dinner with a bunch of NJ folks later today. I'm trying my best to get my NJ friends to mingle more. It's tough. I've come to realize I have no other friends other than those that go to my church...which makes for a very boring life. No one ever wants to go out and have fun...and if they do, they do it with their other non-Christian friends.

Wednesday, July 17, 2002

This is my first entry. I guess the reason I started one is because I read my other friend's blogs and learn so much about them that way. Also I think it's a great way for the people who actually care about you to let them know what's going on in your life.

Anyway I got this idea from my friend Sambo. If you look at my blog and his blog...they look pretty similar. All I did was change a few parameters and claim it as my own. That's what 5 years at CMU taught me!

Work is a bit slow as usual. So that's partly the reason why I'm doing this. It's kind of ironic because my sister-in-law was just telling me that someone from her company was fired for misuse of company assets for personal business. And here I am doing the same thing. Oh well, what they don't know won't hurt right? ;)

Well time to go home. See ya tomorrow!
