Video Cards

  There are external and integrated types of video cards (aka graphics or display card/adapter). When you buy a computer from an OEM(Original Equipment Manufacturer) chances are it has integrated video. Some motherboards come with integrated video. But many of the higher-end motherboards don't come with graphics cards. This is why there are external cards. They have their own onboard memory (like RAM), and usually can handle more work like 3D gaming and rendering. This is helpful for the performance of the pc, especially when dealing with gaming or other video-related activity.
