The greatest grunge band that ever existed. Actually, the best band of any kind that ever existed.
Originated in the early 1990's in Seattle, the mother of all grunge bands, Pearl Jam is without a doubt, one of a kind.
The band started to form when guitarist Stone Gossard and bassist Jeff Ament invited lead guitarist Mike McCready to join their band "Mother Love Bone" and recorded a demo with Soundgarden's drummer Matt Cameron. Current Pearl Jam drummer Jack Irons, delivered the demo to one Eddie Vedder, who dubbed his own vocals and was consequently invited to join the band. Later on, the guys changed name of the band to "Pearl Jam", after Eddie Vedder's grandmother, Pearl, who used to make mind-numbing jam (hence "Pearl-Jam").
The band members are:
Eddie Vedder: Leading singer.
Jeff Ament: Bass guitarist.
Matt Cameron: Drummer.
Stone Gossard: Rhythm guitarist.
Mike McCready: Lead guitarist.
