Tower of Terror - the fastest tallest ride in the world.

On January 1997, Tower of Terror became the first ride to ever reach 100m/h, 160km/h and the tallest roller coaster in the world at a staggering 337 feet / 115meters tall.  It was ground breaking, and to this day, no ride is both taller and faster (see note at bottom of page)*

While it may have been just been taken over in terms of height and speed by two different rides, Tower of Terror still offers an experience that Superman the Escape can't match, and height that dodonpa can only dream about.

As the ride starts it achieves unbelievable acceleration 0-160 km/h in 7 seconds.  Quite a rush to say the least, and when the zero gravity kicks in 38 stories above the ground, well you've got yourself a recipe for one of the best rides around.

Plus this ride features something else that leaves everything else for dead.  The tallest, widest Giant Drop on the face of the planet.  390feet, 5 seconds of freefall, and hitting a top speed of 135km/h.  The Giant Drop also shakes as the Tower of Terror is being operated, adding a new element to drop rides.

Tower of Terror and Giant Drop, 2 of the tallest, fastest rides in existence, exclusive to Australia.

So how does the Tower of Terror compare internationally?  Well consider this, Tower of Terror is:

The 2nd fastest ride in the world @ 100m/h / 161 km/h
The 2nd tallest @ 377'4 / 115 meters tall
Equal first for the tallest drop @ 100 meters / 328'1 feet

* While Dodonpa is faster, and Superman the Escape is taller, no ride is both taller and faster.  Superman the escape was never officially recorded reaching speeds faster then Tower of Terror, although it's design speed is exactly the same as Tower of Terror.
