CORKSCREW |
The world's only unofficial guide to Seaworld, Gold Coast, Australia |
In the early 80's, Seaworld and Dreamworld engaged in the Gold Coasts feircest attraction wars, 2 of the biggest weapons from each of the parks were the Thunderbolt from Dreamworld, and the Corkscrew from Seaworld. Some 20 years later, the corkscrew is still one of the best coasters in the country, all be it one of the quickest. So why is this ride still one of the best after 20 years? Well, the ride still handles like its new, has a great capiticy, and also features the one of the best head chopper elements in Australia as it dives under the monorail track. Each of these features on their own is remarkable, but considering it is celebrating its 20th birthday this year, it elevates this ride to a level of its own At the same time, a ride on the other side of the Gold Coast, the thunderbolt, (built in the same year) is now on Australia's most hated coaster list. How Does the Corkscrew compare? Well consider this, the Corkscrew: Is the 7th fastest rollercoaster in Australia @ 70km/h Is the 6th tallest @ 28 meters Is the 5th longest @ 600 meters Is equal second in number of inversions with Demon, with 3 inversions each. |
