The place of my meditation this time was sitting on the shower floor. The constant flow of warm water on my skin and the sound of running water have seemed to be one of the best background noises I’ve tried so far.

I sat with my back against the wall, as comfortable as possible (but this time, sitting on the hard floor of the shower with the wall at my back kept me from being too comfortable and falling asleep…) I had lit a candle on the counter top before I got in. It was early in the morning, just before sunrise, so that what little light came through was blueish grey. In the dim morning light, the yellow glow of the candle light shone through the shower curtain.

I slowed my breathing, and emptied my mind. I let thoughts take shape, held them in my mind for a moment, and then “released” them and “let them go.” Breath in, think of the chores I had to do, breath out, let it go. Breath in, I have to register for school, breath out, let it go. I continued in this way until my mind was clear and silent and I was completely relaxed.
