January 21, 2005: Yellow Snow
So, the snow is still here. And, that means more yellow snow. I've worn a path around the back of the house so it's not so deep that I can't walk around now. This snow was cool to play in at first, but frankly, I'm getting tired of it. It's cold, I don't like my butt to touch the touch when I go potty and I'm so low to the ground that my belly is dragging anyway. I hate that sweater mom got me but it does keep me a bit warm. I wonder if I should ask for some booties? Nah, I'm a manly pup, I can handle these conditions!
Since the roads were still covered, mom and dad stayed home with me a bit longer than usual. Normally I'm quite happy when they are around, but, then again, they were cutting into my nap time. You see, they are both gone by 9am usually and that means I get to sleep for a few hours until mom or dad comes home for lunch. Then, I nap for a few more hours until they both get home. They didn't leave until 11am today and I was being fussy and kept wanting them to pick me up because I was sleepy. I don't mind sleeping alone so long as no one is home but if there is a warm body nearby, you'd be dang sure I want to snuggle up for my naps.
Mommy has a birthday coming up later this month. I need to talk to dad about what to get her. I'm not sure what he's getting her, but I will probably just give her what I always do....a hard time
January 20, 2005: Let it Snow
Boy, today I saw my first real snow! It was so much fun, I kept running back and forth like crazy and was eating it. I just plowed my way through. My stumpy legs were completely covered up and my chest was pushing the snow like a little plow! Mom kept telling me I shouldn't eat yellow snow but I couldn't help it. I had to try a little. Blech!
More snow is on the way and although I don't like getting wet from the rain, this snow isn't half bad. It's sure cold though.

Well, mom and dad both had to work today. Dad has to be there at 9am but mom doesn't leave me until noon. We played all morning and she wore me out! I did manage to rip the stuffing and squeaker out of one of my toys. But, mom just shakes her head and laughs. When we went outside to potty, I don't know what got into me. I had so much enery I was just running around crazy. I flew to the left to the end of my retractable leash, then ran all the way to the right. When mom walked off the back sidewalk and around the building, I went back and forth, round and around. I had her legs all tangled up in the leash hehe. But, I knew I was going to get to sleep all afternoon until dad gets home at 5pm, so I thought, what the heck, I'm gonna wear myself out.
Mom didn't get home until 9pm but dad let me out to play when he got home. I swear, everytime I see mom I just go nuts. Whether she's been gone 5 seconds or 5 hours. I jump up on her and she whisks me up into the air and up to ther shoulder. Then I just go crazy, wiggling my long body all over and giving her kisses and rooting around in her hair. I love that mommy of mine! Her and dad go back to school tomorrow. And that means they will be busy juggling work and school and studying but I know they are spending time away from me to make our life better. I ever overheard them say that they were thinking of moving us from our townhouse to a house with a bigger yard...and..the best of all...maybe getting me a brother or sister! Can you believe that? I'd love to have someone to snuggle with during the day and to play with! Well, many woofs to y'all and have a great week!
January 5, 2005: I'm a Naughty, Naughty Boy
Well, mom and dad were busy today trying to clean up from a flood in our basement. I overheard them talking about a pipe busting somewhere. They've been busy cleaning up and trying to get a damage assessment for the insurance from what I can understand. Anyhow, I was feeling very ignored while they were spreading out their photos and other items around the house to dry out. And....over the course of this afternoon and this evening, I went potty in the house 5 times. I know, I know, I'm bad. But, it was just a little potty to get their attention. Heck, bad attention is attention nonetheless, right?
But, I think they forgave me. Mom fixed dad a steak for dinner and I got a couple of pieces so they still love me.
January 1, 2005: Yay! My First Christmas
Well, I hope all you other pups out there had a merry christmas because I sure did! At first, I wasn't sure what all this Christmas stuff was about. I knew mom and dad were getting packages in the mail and wrapping them in papers. I thought they were all for me, so naturally when they weren't looking, I'd sneak under that big tree they have and tear open the corners and shred the papers. Hehe. They weren't too happy with me. Especially the time I snuck way behind the tree and being the thoughtful fur baby I am, I left them a "present" of my own. Dad got mad but hey, a tree is a tree. How am I supposed to distinguish which ones I can drop off "gifts" at and which ones I can't?
But, the big day came and mom and dad opened all of those packages under the tree and I was in doggy heaven. Yeah, sure, they got me this dorky red sweatshirt with my name on it (like I'm ever gonna wear that thing) and a stocking full of toys but all that wrapping paper in the floor. Oh, it was so much fun. I ran from wrapping to wrapping just shredding it as fast as my little teeth would go. In the wake of my destruction, I felt kinda bad for mom having to clean all of that mess up but hey, it was fun while it lasted!
