I Am, You Are, We Are Australian

I guess I must apologise,
I don't know how to begin,
Because the story I'm about to tell,
Is I am, you are, we are Australian.

We live in the Land Down Under,
Beneath the Southern skies,
And no matter what you ask of us,
We will never pass you by.

We've stood beside each other,
Those that we call our friend,
Fought the fight so bravely,
So peace would reign again.

There are so many stories,
That of this nation could be told,
For some just happened yesterday,
And others, ages old.

So many come to visit,
And across our nation roam,
But they see so much that they do like,
They then call Australia home.

Yes, we are a little different,
In some things that we might do,
But if you need call out for us,
We will surely answer you.

For we have never learnt,
That whatever be the cost,
We'll pay the price of freedom,
No matter what is lost.

So if ever you should need us,
Just knock upon the door,
We will open it so gladly,
For we've been there before.

And if some time in future,
We are needed once again,
I know that we all think the same,
I am, you are, we are all Australian.
