Have you ever heard of the Australian Drop Bears?
I’d better fill you in then in case you intend to go bush
walking while you are here.
Never walk in the Australian bush alone, or at night, as this is
when the drop bears are likely to appear.
They live hidden, way up high in gum trees, you won’t see
them, but you’ll know they are there, when you walk under
one of their trees.
They drop down on you and they are mean and nasty critters
inflicting wounds with their sharp claws and teeth.
Drop bears are similar in appearance to the koala but are much
larger and look ferocious.
Their claws are long and sharp, just like their
teeth.
Any Aussie will be able to tell you about our drop bears,
we are all aware of them, and there is no way in the world that
I’d go bush walking alone and I’d certainly never go
at night.

Another nasty critter to be aware of is our famous hoop
snake.
These snakes are very long and because of this they bite the end
of their tail and curl up like a hoop.
This enables them to travel very fast.
You won’t get away from them but you’ll feel their
bite on your ankles.
Fortunately they aren’t venomous but then who wants to be
bitten by a hoop snake, not me.
Make sure to walk fast when bush walking then you’ll be
safe from our nasty hoop snake.

Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and your plans will succeed.
I am not aware of the true origin
of the above tales.
I suspect our early settlers told them to their children
To stop them wandering off and getting lost.
The hoop snake made them hurry home from school and not linger on
the way
