Blackthorne Software Discussion Forum: Seller's Assistant Release: Questions

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By chandleraz on Wednesday, February 07, 2001 - 12:03 pm:

I just read the FAQs on the upcoming software. Questions came up in my mind:

1. Do I assume correctly that this software can only be used on eBay and won't be available for other online auction houses?
2. If I don't put any auctions up in a month will I still be charged the $14.99?
3. Will I be able to import my current data to the new software?
4. I've become accustomed to certain features with your software. What isn't being migrated to the new software? What am I losing?
5. Will new users have a month trial to see if they want to use it?
6. If we decide to go with the new software is it a contract and, if so, for how long?
7. How will we be able to stop using the software and end the monthly fee.

Thank you, in advance, for your attention and responses to these questions.

Marianne

Here are the replies...

1. Yes it only works on eBay.
2. You may subscribe and unsubscribe after the free year if you won't be listing any auctions. This won't be checked automatically though.
3. Yes.
4. I can't think of any features in the old programs that won't be in the new program.
5. Yes.
6. It is not a contract. You can unsubscribe at will.
7. There will be a subscription page on eBay to allow you to manage your subscription.

Thank you for your quick response, John. Thought of another question.... will the new software support "out of eBay" or personal website sales?

Hi John,
Please answer a couple of questions:
1. Will existing customers who are non-subscribers be able to use the AAPro 1.26 after upgrades on ebay are made, or will the upgrades contain changes that will effect uploading to the ebay site, rendering the software useless?
2.In regard to the question above (#2), sounds like it would be possible to pay the subscription in order to receive an upgrade and then cancel the subscription after? Am i reading that right?
Thanks,
Susan

The new version does not add info to your personal website, but the database is written in Access, and does not preclude you from developing your own software or finding software that does. Look at http://www.marknliz.com/ for one such application.

To gypsyiz9...

1. The 1.26 version will continue to work as it does now, but new versions of 1.26 will not be released to support new eBay features. Also if eBay changes the site to the point where the older program is broken it will no longer work. It is certainly not eBay's intention to purposely break the program to force users to upgrade.
2. You could obtain the upgrade, but the submit listing and refresh listing features will only work if you are currently subscribed.

To John:

I upgraded from AA to AApro. Will I be able to downgrade and obtain a registration number for AA. The $15 a month will be too steep a difference

Once your year is over, you will be able to cancel your Pro subscription and sign up for the Basic subscription without a problem.
