Staff Management Handymen When you have a grass park, the first rule is to untick the mow grass option box. In RCT2, this is already done for you. Just about everybody knows this by now, as if you dont untick it, theyll spend their whole time mowing lawns. If you really want mown lawns, assign a few handymen to roam free and only do that. Assign handymen to food courts, especially in RCT2, as you can build massive food courts there without guests getting lost. If you decide to build the exit paths of a few roller coasters close together, you can assign them there, using the work zone tool (the blue footprints button). It is also advisable if you have a coaster with nausea approaching 10, such as regurgitator. Handymen are the cheapest employees in both games (RCT 1&2), and its better to over hire than the other way round.

PARK CLEANUP Press 3456 on the keyboard, and open up half a dozen handymen windows. Now pick each one up and deliver them to the site of sick or rubbish, using the pincer tool. This should be repeated every few months, and ensures a perfectly spotless park, and itll also earn you the tidiest park award if you keep it up for around 6 months. Double click build paths (or press F4 twice) to exit cleanup mode. This guides section is slightly different, and will use the new look from the homepage.

Mechanics Only assign these to large areas of ride exits. I prefer not to assign them at all, but thats just how I work. Also get them to both inspect and fix rides. One every 6-8 rides are usually enough. Get them to assign coasters every 10 minutes, and every other ride with a reliability of fewer than 75%. This can be acessed by clicking on the button with the slide on it and changing the dropdown menu to reliability. They cost a lot, but are definitely needed to keep your park running, as why would someone go to a park with half its rides broken down? If you have a massive, massive coaster with multiple trains and a very long length, it is worth considering patroling a mechanic at the exit to be sure that this profit machines does not crash.

[LEFT] A mechanic fixing a coaster. When they are fixing and inspecting rides, you cannot move them, and when a coaster has crashed due to brakes failure, it is often a race between the mechanic and the train to see which one can reach the station first. This is where the need to assign a mechanic to an individual ride comes in handy.
Entertainers - They are not essential to the running of your park, but are useful for breaking up boredom in queue lines approaching 10 minutes and beyond. Assign them to the line, and the pathway close to it, to attract more riders. An entertainer at the park entrance is advisable, to give peeps a good impression of the park. This is also the case in real life. Financially, they are not too expensive, as you wont need many in a park. Of course, if you are working in a money free scenario, hire as many as you can for the sake of it, and to maybe cheer up guests in crap parks. Dumping about 20 entertainers in Arid Heights at one time increased my park rating by about 100!
Security Guards - These are the most useless staff. If you have a well-run park with happy guests, out of thousands, not one will have an angry red face the trademark of a vandal. If you have an unhappy park and an area with lots of benches, etc (e.g. food court), then you might consider assigning one of them there. However, its cheaper to go into cleanup mode (press 3456) and replace broken things, as they dont really cost too much. Again, if playing a scenario without money, employ however many you like.
