| 08/09/01 - It Baffles Me... I give up. I just can't figure it out. No matter how hard I try, I just don't understand what all the big fuss is over Anna Kournikova. I mean, seriously, I don't get why so many people think, that she's all that hot. I mean, maybe she's very attractive when you see her in real life, but physical attraction works under the criteria of a very highly-raised bar when you deal with celebrities. Especially since she seems to attract far more attention and exposure than other people whom I find to be more... *ahem*... deserving. Now, one the one hand, it's admirable that we can take a normal looking person and hail them as a sex symbol. But when the magazines put her name on the same list as Shania Twain, Heidi Klum, and Shanna Moakler for the sexiest celebrities while bona fide Hollywood-class hotties like Mena Suvari and Dominique Swain don't make the cut, then I kind of feel that Anna Kournikova is a bit out of place... |

| Now, I understand that a lot of times, my tastes do not reflect those of the mainstream opinions. But come on, LOOK at her! In fact, a lot of the girls whom I know personally are, as far as I'm concerned, more physically attractive than Kournikova, as are many people whom I see on the street, and especially a lot of the young lady customers I see everyday at my current job at the beach stand. Well, they always said that Vancouver had a very high percentage of beautiful women, compared to other cities, and if Anna Kournikova is giving hard-ons to millions and millions of men across North America, then I guess that Vancouver life has spoiled me wrotten. (Although this does not excuse the fact that Mena Suvari and Dominique Swain are severely overlooked...) At least with Jennifer Lopez, I can understand why other people find her hot, even though I don't find her particularly attractive on a celebrity scale. |
