in the pan, the heat

clusters, sticking

sole to cement, crushes

granite to earth

Rising waves peel

from streets and foreheads

evapo-RATION water

rationing national H2O

drought here, hurricane elsewhere

Ni�o, nada, 'nother

pi�a colada

to help them forget

nature

and the legislature,

flaws, and the

laws

of summer
