Queen to drop puck in Vancouver

Long time hockey fan miffed

Vancouver
When Queen Elizabeth drops a ceremonial puck at a Vancouver Canucks hockey game on Sunday as part of her Jubilee celebration; it will leave a foul taste in the mouth of Her fellow countryman, Peter Puck Moore of Nottingham.

Bloody Hell, Moore exclaimed when told of HRHs unique event.  When I saw my first game six years ago, I wasnt allowed to drop a puck!

In fact, this will be the Queens third visit to a hockey game but the first as Queen.  She watched two games in 1951 when she was but a wee Princess.

Princess, my hairy ass, Moore continued to vent.  I suppose Wayne Gretzky and Cassie Campbell, who I met once, great girl, did I tell you, will be there also!

This reporter did not have the heart to acknowledge the accuracy of his prediction.

I suspect I was overlooked because I went to my first game in Montreal and you know those Froggies dont care much for Brits.  Not since we kicked their arses at Quebec City.  I also have attended matches in Detroit and Buffalo and never asked to perform that duty but everybody knows that Yanks dont care much for Brits either, Moore added as if beginning to realise a connection.

Moore promises to seek satisfaction.

I own my own puck.  Im going to practise dropping it and then write to my little Irish friend at the Air Canada Centre (ACC) and request that I get to do the honours at a Leafs game.

A spokesman at ACC refused to even consider the request for a comment on the likelihood of Moore being granted his demand.
